Power is supposed to be 120 volts +/- 10% ....as low as 108 volts and high as 132 volts.

The system load has alot to do with the voltage reading. During this season voltages tend to run high. Especially at 2 or 3 in the morning. Check the voltage at about 5 pm. If it's high at that time, complain to the distributer.

I guess I'd prefer that to the 108 I was getting here... and my 108 was dipping to 99 the other day and tripping the breaker. I asked the CG service guy about it and he said he'd check. Never saw anyone back here, but today it's 112 and I like that just fine.

So I see posts with the "OK" ranges... where is your "disconnect and run the genset" limit high and low?

Don't worry, be happy.

It's just fine.

We have seen 130 volts more than a few times in Mexico although mostly in the Baha. We have also seen 90 volts two weeks ago in a campground in Hope BC. I set up the system so if the voltage is too high or too low I just plug the 55 amp converter directly into the high or low voltage. It in turn charges the batteries which in turn power the inverter which provide us with the AC we need. We specifically selected the inverter becuae it has a tolerance of 88 to 135 volts. Works great. This is in our little rig that we use to explore Mexico.

Wayne, you are confusing NEMA specifications with ANSI specifications.
I wasn't intending to refer to either. 115 volts +/- 10% is what I see in the specifications for most equipment I look at where the manufacturer specifies a range. A notable exception is some power converters that have a wider range. I will admit that after all of the cooling unit problems, I wouldn't want to operate my RV refrigerator on electric when the voltage is at the high end. That's one device where within reason the lower the voltage, the better.

Hi,

I agree that 128 is a little to high, but is acceptable. Just remember that a electric heater will draw a little more amps than normal, and this means the refrigerator running on electric will consume more power than normal.

If you are running electric heaters, the voltage should drop, say by 2-4 volts while drawing 15 - 20 amps. This will bring you back to the normal amperage on the heaters, as the voltage falls.

Yes when the campground is full the voltage should drop back to normal 120.

Your TV, VCR, DVD, and other things will work just fine. Even the air conditioner will like the higher voltage. Only electric heaters do not like higher voltage.

Good Luck,

Fred.

It is entirely possible that the campground has purposely jacked up their voltage in order to keep it from dropping too low when loaded by A/C's and such.
I don't know how they would do this... The power company provides and installs the step-down transformers that feed the campground. And, the transformers are not adjustable. Not sure to what you are referring to.

To OP, you might try using a different meter to double check.

Yes, I double checked with another meter with exactly same results at differing outlets.

The step-down transformers that the power company has do have voltage taps and are thus adjustable. But it is not likely the power company would set the voltage above their normal limits. The campground could request that they set the taps to the high end though.
