On RV.net it seems like most posters here do not break the speed limit and do not go over 65 mph. On the road, it seems like most RVs do drive over 65 mph. On that note...

The slowest posted limit (or less). Which is usually the truck limit. I got nowhere to be and all day to get there.

If I'm towing a vehicle behind my MH I follow the truck limits. If not, I set the cruise control around 65.

I set the cruise at 60 or lower in metro areas. If you read the signs carefully some states specifically limit MH's and RV's to 55, Illinois is one that comes to mind. With that said I have never seen an RV or MH pulled over and we've been travleing there on a regular basis for 19 years.

Slow Poke IL. and CA. are the only 2 I can remember going through that limit RV's to 55 MPH.
I did hear from my brother who is a driving instructer for AARP. That IL. was going to raise the 55 MPH to 65 MPH in 2010. Not that I ever noticed many doing 55 to start with.

We did a quick 300 mile trip this summer. On the way down, we towed our MDX
and kept a steady speed of 55 MPH. Our tow bracket failed just as we left for home.
I drove the Phaeton at 65 and Vicki followed. Our mileage on the way down was 8.7
mpg. On the way home it dropped to 7.2 mpg. I think I will stick to the slower limit.

I follow the posted truck speed, (I'm retired and not in any big hurry) there are exceptions, like when the truck lanes are "ruff' trucks are tough on the pavement, and of coarse on grades that slow them down to a crawl. when I do switch to the "car" lanes, I will drive the car posted speed. I do not tow, I have my scooter fastened to a carrier on the back of the MH. The scooter weighs 270 lbs. with the overhang, I end up with 520 lbs on the rear wheels, I don't notice any handling issues, so I'm happy with that setup.

We rarely drive over 65mph. If the truck limits are less they are that way for a reason and we follow them. Our rig has far more in common with a 18 wheeler than it does with a car.
