Each morning DW starts the day off with the first cup of coffee and the TV. The TV comes on but it is all vertical streaks, no picture. After a varied period of time part of the picture appears and then finally in about 1 hour the full picture appears. We leave the TV on all day in case we want to watch something and don't want to go thru the start up process. I was told the video card was going out. Any advice on trying to repair or junk the thing? The TV was in the coach when we got it in Nov 07.

Yes sounds like your Horizontal is going out in your set in the old days it would require a new tube but in the throw away sets today its cheaper to buy a new one. Odds are no one can fix it because of the parts are no longer made and even if they could get the parts they would cost more than a new set.

Junk it. Costco has a 32" for $329 bucks

Depending on brand of the TV, you might check your warranty from the TV Manufacturer. You didn't say when in 07 you got the the coach, might still be within 2 years of purchase date?

The problem with the TV is either cold solder joints, cracked circuit board, or leaky capacitors. They can be repaired, but sometimes it is easier to just buy a new TV.

Check the posting for Nov 07.

I'll junk it and look for a new one.
