One year the start of something neat happened at our old house.

The door Bell wrang a couple nights before halloween. When we opened it, there was a bag all decorated up and inside it was full of little halloween trinkets, candies, stickers and some decorations and such. Also inside was a paper Ghost. inside the bag was a note that went on to say how we had been a target of some spirit of halloween ghost (I cant recall the exact words). The instructions went on to tell us that we needed to hang the white ghost up in our window to let others know we'd been hit and then build 3 bags like the one we recieved and hit up 3 other homes.

My Wife went to the Dollar store and picked up all kinds of neat stuff. Our kids had fun placing them on their friends door steps around up and down the street, ringing the door bells and hidding. By the time Halloween came around almost all the houses on the street had these white ghosts in the windows. It was really neat.

Just a reminder to everyone. Be a good neighbor and drive extra careful on the 31st, watch out for the little ones and speak up if you come accross someone that may not be. Also, it's on a Saturday this year so keep in mind the kids have no school the next day. Above all, have fun and remember what it was like when you were a kid.

I'm thinking those 10 kids are in a limited income home and don't understand why they can't have the candy other kids get. Perhaps the Halloween thing is one of their bright spots they will remember growing up.

We live in an area that is heavily frequented by lower income single parent families on Halloween. A parent will drive in and drop them off at the entrance. Initially I was a little offended, but then these kids don't know the difference and are just enjoying the whole trick or treat thing. It's the parents who know where to go to get the best return on their effort, but we can't hold that against the kids.

I don't think the parents are worried about the "return on their effort." I think many of the lower income parents are worried what may happen to their kids if the let them go trick or treating in the hood. Worried about what may be in their candy when they get home, if they make it home at all.

Just don't ever hand out crayons as a "treat", LOL. Learned this the hard way. At least most of the kids said "No thank you" when they declined them that year.

I don't know why people let their kids go trick or treating in a public campground where you have no idea who theses people are. I know a lot of people in the campgrounds are good people doing the same as you are. Campgrounds also attract bad people and events like this tend to attract even more bad people. Don't let your guard down because you are camping.

One of my favorite holidays! Now that we fulltime we almost never get kids coming around, though, and that takes a lot of the fun out of it for me. I enjoy seeing the kids in their costumes, handing out candy, and enjoying the autumn weather. No kids in this park, more's the pity. I love to decorate for the holiday as well! Pumpkins and mums and ghosts and candles and cornstalks. It's great!

I live in the country and what kids are out here go to a church or a town gathering. I miss seeing all the Goblins and handing out candy. I understand the parents concerns about just letting their kids loose. Lots of crazies out there. When I was young that was one of my favorite things to do, the other was at Christmas going around caroling. Good old days.

My view is different i see alot older kids coming around with pillow cases to fill,I go to the canmpground and have plenty kids that are controlled their going around certain time to go from camper to camper,If they dont want to participate you leave your camper lights off,That way those that dont want to hand out any candy thats their choice. This year holloween is a sat ,by noon the kids will be out all day.T he older kids will be out after dark and thats when most problems occur,I love Hollween but each year the kids get more out of hand thats why i like at the campgrounds.Plenty activities and everyone goes for 2 hours and enjoy trick ot treating..then we have a dj and party .If im paying for campground i beleive theres enough homes outside that kids get go trick or treating ,Good old days are gone today be carefull

If you are counting how many kids a person has, you have really lost the spirit in which the giving is meant. Turn out your light and don't answer the door...

We have watched kids get dropped off by vans in our neighborhood. Found out later it was the womens abuse shelter taking the kids out for a treat. Had I known, they would have gotten an extra piece of candy!

We get a few thousand kids in our small town. That's more then the population of the town. We live in a small town surrounded by rural areas so they come to our little town to trick or treat. It's fun and we don't have any problems. We get older kids also but I would rather they stop by for candy then run around causing problems. We have people who feel that if they bring their kids they should bring candy so they walk around handing out candy. Funny part is we know most of the families. You have to like living in a rural area where everybody knows everybody and everything.
