If i needed a small van it would be definitely be on my short list,I'm not a big fan of Fords but they seem to be the only player in the N.American market with a trades van that small, looks like something imported from overseas,Amazing how many vehicles are in the rest of the world that we just never see over here.

No the gas mileage isn't what I think we need in today's economy, understand it's about 22 mpg...for a small vehicle with a 4 cylinder!! I think you could do better with the panel sedan delivery Chevy HHR..also it looks a lot better, IMO.
I think it's around $ 21-22K...I wonder what the price difference is between the Transit and a base 6 cyl. Ford Econoline commercial van...also curious how much mpg difference there is ?
Ford has many models of the Transit...good vehicle...but why they brought in the tiniest one...that doesn't seem to be that fuel efficient...I dunno.
No...I would not buy it...I would look first at a Chevy HHR commercial...cheaper I believe , better mileage , or the Ford Econoline base E 150 with the 6 cyl. engine.
Why didn't Ford put a small turbo diesel in it, instead of a gas 4 cyl. that doesn't seem to be rated very highly mpg wise...19 city...22 or 24 mpg highway ?
In Europe there are all sorts of small 4 cyl diesels that run on a whiff of fuel. I'm sure Ford has them.
A small van, with a raised height cargo area is not a bad idea...but I think the Transit still needs some work, particularly change the engine.

I quick cheap Turkish made product that has a small amount of competition considering the height of cargo area. I'm sure the height has something to do with the decreased milage. When I first looked into one of these I couldn't help thinking that soon someone will make a conversion model of this.

What is interesting to me is that Ford imports them from Turkey as a passenger van with rear seats and windows, and as soon as they arrive in this country (New Jersey, I recall) they rip out the seats and replace the windows with solid panels. The seats and glass are recycled. It seems there is a high tariff on commercial vehicles, but not passenger vehicles, that makes the extra effort worthwhile. It has something to do with a high European tariff on chickens from the US.

Ford is dreaming when it comes to pricing this vehicle-occasionally they can be seen on ebay, seems 25-27k for a bare bones mini-notevenvan is a bit steep.

I drove one today.
We had our local Ford dealer, Galpin, display a few at our Open House. Very nice vehicle.
The one we had today has a DeWalt computer system that allows a tradsman to electronically code his tools. When the worker is done with the job and back in the van, he can go into the dash-mounted computer and it will tell him if all of his tools are back on the truck. Pretty cool.

Probably make a pretty good handicap accessible van, too.
