When we got the hybrid, the first thing my son said was "do those table legs (pedestal type) collapse? He thought it would be a really good idea to make the table legs in graduated sections so you could raise/lower the entire table instead of removing the legs to 'make' the bed.

Has any manufacturer ever done this? It seems like it would work well.

I'm not sure I understand. Would it be like having gas shocks inside the pedestal where you can press the table down loading the shocks and affix it to the base cabnets to make a bed.. Then pop a leaver or press a button and have it raise up into a table? Or have I just expanded on your idea

We have an 09 Jayco and one of the features that I liked was the dinette table does have a shock on it. All you do is flip a lever and push the table down. Pull it up and flip the lever to set it up. Great idea.

Yeah, kinda like shocks I guess. What's the model # of your Jayco? I'd like to look it up.

At any rate, if I knew how I sure would convert mine. Those loose legs rolling around are a PAIN!!

Not for making into a bed but we saw a class C at RV show with a coach & coffee table setup. The coffee table could be raised and moved close to coach for eating. The MH had no dinette.

I guess you could use the lifts they use in office chairs, but after a time they leak and won't stay up.

Camping World showed a table leg like this in last month's President's Club magazine, available at CW.
