Your tow capacity is 7 times the difference between your GRAWR and the actual rear axle weight if you're planning on towing a bumper pull. If a 5th wheel, then it is only 5 times the difference.
That is following the rules of 15% tongue weight on the bumper pull trailer, and 20% on the 5th wheel.
These numbers indicate how much trailer your truck can keep off the ground.
No guarantees of performance are made in this estimation. Odds are that you will not be happy with the performance pulling a roughly 17,500lb bumper pull trailer or a 12,500lb 5th wheel. It's a diesel, but it's an early 1990's diesel from before the big three started one-upping each other with the diesels.

OK, its an automatc. All I know. Pulling a travel trailer. GVW 6600. Can't excede 2000 added weight. The person that had the truck added an extra fan under the truck on the transmission. My RV is 34ft,one slide. I am worried about pulling the mountains at Jellico,TN on I-75.
Thanks

Extra fan on the transmission? Hmmm, never heard of that. And with any long hill, just watch what the truck does, temps, oil pressure ect and if temps get too high, just pull over and let cool.

The fan is mounted under the truck and blows over a radiator llike and is attached to the transmission with two lines. It also has a transmission radiator in front of the front radiator. In other words, it has two tansmission coolers, the one in the front & the one under the truck at the transmission. I am not a mechanic and dont know what everything is....
Thanks for helping me...

The double coolers are a good thing. Obviously, either the truck was running very hot, or the owner was very paranoid about heat.
Can't give any more info about tow ratng since you won't tell us any more about the truck.

That was the standard auxiliary transmission cooler sold by Dodge back in 1993 and earlier. If you towed heavy, then it was recommended to add that dealer installed option to your truck.

Look at the edge of the driver's door, or the driver's door pillar. There must be a sticker there with the weight ratings for the truck.
3/4 ton (F-250 C/K2500, D-250) pickups around that time were rated 7200GVW or 8600GVW.
If all you're pulling is a travel trailer with a GVWR of 6600lbs, then you will have no problems. Most travel trailers have a decent cargo carrying capacity, and you'd have to try REAL HARD to stuff enough junk in the trailer to bring it up to its GVWR, let alone overload it.
