On some of the trailers that I have seen, the manufacture uses the space of the hollow core door/s (usually bathroom) to cut about a third off/out of one side. Leaving just the vinner wood outer core other side as a back. To install, using bent heavy wires, several towel bars. I am thinking of doing this to a TT, because of those plastic over the door hooks DW uses are just a pain....... Being a woodworker, this does not look like a big project at all.

Our MH has a wall mounted rack that is made of 2 narrow vertical pieces of wood mounted to wall with 3 squared "U" shaped metal rods to hang towels over. With the square U shape, you can swing the rod out from wall to hang towel over and it swings back to wall to minimize space usage. I've not measured them, but the vertical wooden supports are probably 3/4" X 3/4" and maybe 2' long. The length of the long edge of rods (distance between vertical supports) is width of standard bath towel folder lengthwise plus a few inches. If you could find one of these for sale or build one you could probably mount it to the door. Seems that would be better than tearing into the door.

I did some Google searches but couldn't find a picture of one...sorry.

Yelp, Those round, usually gold in color thin round towel rods, is exactly what I had in mind. They rotate where the ends go into the wood to allow a you to put your towel on, then swing back vertical almost even with the door. Come Spring, or into a warm spell this winter, I will take a second look at your discriptation when we drive down to check on the trailer. Thank you for the idea of a different approach. This is something that could be assembled elsewhere then attached to the hanging door later. Rather than taking the door off for some surgery & trim. On an extended trip, there seems to never have enough racks to hang wet towels & wash cloths, & wet etc. up to allow to dry.
