This summer I plan on taking a 2 week trip to Niagara, then over to Martha's Vineyard, then head back South. Can anyone offer suggestions of CG's or stops? I will be traveling with another family. We both have children, 6 between the two families, between the ages of 2 - 9.
It'll take a couple of days to get to Niagara, I want to stay there maybe just one or two nights, then a day to Martha's. I'd like to stay between there and Boston. Maybe catch the 4th of July fireworks at Boston Harbor. Probably 3 or 4 nights there, then head back south to GA.
Suggestions are appreciated.

There are allot of state parks on the lake just East of Niagara, they have 50 amp hook ups, and priced pretty decent.
Martha Vineyard is nice but I think you would be better off going to Nantucket. You should make it a day trip, since they take you to the cleaners for the ferry ride over with the trailer. Nantucket, can be walked, or biked. Most of the sites are easy walking, Whale Museum, then Jail, and few others. There are many fire works going off all over the Cape. But you might be better off going towards Plymouth, and stopping in to the Plymouth Plantation for the kids, its a community based on life in the 1600's. I'm not to familiar with camp grounds in that neck of the woods, since that was a day trip for me. There is also the battle ship USS Boston in Fall Rive, in Quincy Mass is the USS Salem. Both great day trips if you are into Navy Life. The USS Boston, has a great restoration program, great crew, and offer over nights on the ship. So does the USS Salem. Just a few things to look for. Have Fun and enjoy Bill

With all due respect to the other posters, you are visiting in my home territory, where we lived for better than fifty years and raised our three daughters.
Visit Martha's Vineyard, drive to Woods Hole, use the daytrip parking lot, $10.00, buy a Book of 12 tickets for $60.00 which gives you 6 round trips on the Ferry. Don't know how many in your two families but you can do the math. Maybe two books?
When you get on the Island go to the Vineyard Island transit bus office at the Ferry Terminal and buy a full day pass for each member of your party. These passes give you ride everywhere the bus runs, on and off anywhere. The bus goes all day on about a one hour schedule at each location. you can ride to Edgartown, spend an hour seeing the high points, get on the bus and go to Aquinnah (The Gay Head Light House, Color Clay Cliffs, Indian Village) and get on the next bus to go to Menemsha, then to the other end of the Island and enjoy all the interesting things the Island has to offer without walking the little feet off the kid's.
When in Oak Bluffs be sure to let the kid's ride the Carosell(sp)and walk down through the restored gingerbread cabins in Cottage City.
Try to make the time to go to the Whaling Museum in New Bedford and you all will enjoy the Half Scale Whale Ship inside the Museum and the many interesting displays for all ages. Walk where Herman Melville walked, the cobblestone streets are authentic. Go to the Fishing Piers where the Whaleships tied up and today the Fishing Fleet ties. The whole family will see up close the boats that go out to sea and bring in the harvest of the ocean.
Drive through the Town of Fairhaven, across the River from New Bedford and visit the Colonial Fort Phoenix.
A half day trip to Plymouth and The Plimouth Plantation is a good history lesson on our early settlers.
There is train service into Boston and "The T" services the areas where the Boston Pops celebrates the 4th in Boston with fireworks on the Charles River Basin.
There are three or four Camp Grounds around the Cape Cod Canal. We have not stayed in them because we are members of Out Door Resorts and stay at the Rochester Gateway to Cape Cod ODW Resort. There is a KOA in Middleboro as well.
Good Luck and enjoy South Eastern Mass.

Ifyou are talking about Niagara Falls, I recommend Four Mile Creek State Park in Youngstown, NY. The only drawback is the fact that they only have electric hookups. It is right on Lake Ontario about 4 miles east of the point where the Niagara River joins the lake.
The nicest sites are 226 thru 236 (even numbers). You are parked on a site that is right on the lake and on a clear day you can see acroos the Lake to Toronto, Ont.
If you can get along without the full hookups, pick this one.

If you are visiting Niagara, you may wish to check out the Canadian side as well. To do that you will need a passport, or "enhanced drivers license" from some states. I believe kids can get by with birth certificates - check the homeland security web site.

Nickerson SP 1/2 way out the Cape is nice - right on the bike trails. Believe you can catch passenger ferries to MV and Nantucket from closeby, too. Another MA SP is Wampatuck (?sp) - north of Plymouth, SE of Boston. ST
