Man now you guys got me talked into getting a Barker 3000 or 3500 for my travel trailer. It's now at the top of my Christmas List. I can't wait to hook it up, what a great idea and a great upgrade.

Barker 3500 mine is on it's second trailer. When I bought my new trailer I took my Barker of the old trailer and put it on the new one in the dealers lot. The one glitch with a Barker is you have to let the motor stop before you change directions or you will blow a fuse.

I've had a Barker 2500 for about 11 years and on 3 different trailers... Replaced one output gear in all that time... Good service and a great product...

OK...I just did it. I ordered a Barker 3000 VIP off of ebay for $169 to my door. The Barker 3500 has a slightly larger diameter (2 1/4 inch) shaft and it wouldn't provide sufficient clearance for my trailer, so I ordered the Barker 3000 VIP to get the slightly smaller (2 inch diameter) shaft size. Thanks to all members of this forum for the information and help.

Well its done! I bought him the Atwood 3500 on Amazon and we installed it today!! All we can say is A M A Z I N G!! Electric jacks should be stock on any travel trailer IMO!

I ended up choosing the Atwood vs the Barker because of the manual crank positioning. We have tall propane tanks and couldn't imagine manually cranking the jack a 1/2 turn at a time as someone suggested they had to do with the Barker, since the manual crank is located on the top of the unit. Actually after using any electric tongue jack I can't imagine manually cranking ever again!

Either way we love it!! Thanks everyone for your input!

I have had Atwood electric jacks on my last two trailers for the past 12 years and have never had one fail yet!

The manual crank feature IS an important one. NOT for a jack failure,(which is rare) but in case the battery becomes too run down. Probably not an issue if you frequent electric hookup campgrounds, but for those of us that always boondock it is VERY important.
