We have been offered a great deal on a crew cab Chevy, and are wondering if there will be any problem in seeing the fifth wheel hitch to hook up, as we have always had extended cabs?

I have a wide angle mirror attached to the trailer aimed at the hitch. That gives me a good look as I back under the trailer. I can see the hitch from the seat so between the tow views it is pretty easy.

I have a crew cab F350 and can easily see my hitch looking out the back window. However, I am fairly tall.

We had a Chevy 2500HD crew cab and I never had an issue hooking up the 5'er. I would stop just short of hitch contacting pin and get out to make sure all was lined up side-to-side and the 5'er was right height.

I can't see my hitch, but I use my mirrors to line up side to side. No issues so far.

I've never pulled a fiver with a pickup, but why do you have to see the pin when you hook up. When I hook up a semi I just split the trailer between the mirrors and back up very slowly until the pin locks into the jaws.

Personally I find that the easiest solution is to simply paint a small white dot on the rear window that you can use as a line up mark for the hitch and pin while backing. Since I have a Quad Cab and a Fold-A-Cover I put the mark on the inside of the Fold-A-Cover and I can look in the mirror and line up perfectly. No extras to buy or store when not in use. Best of all it was free!
