I was wondering if you can convert a 2006 guardian RV quietpact 5500 from current setup to run gas to LP. What would be the cost and difficulty in doing this.

Thanks in advance, Robert

ps I would like to replace mine but I am set up for LP or diesel but to carry a 3rd fuel would not be good.

The Setup:
96' Serro Scotty 25'Dodge,4x4,Diesel,Class-C, 86 20' Chris Craft LTD.

Good luck getting any useable information from the generac factory.

Yes, possible and easy to do. Unless you are real handy with tools and knowledgeable on gaseous fuel systems, you might want to involve a professional. Propane leaks can send you and your MH to the moon.

Believe a company out of Jackson MS offers a kit, Moulden Supply, good folks.

Also consider the quantity of propane you can carry, propane does not have as much energy as gasoline, per gallon, and therefore the genset will use a little more of it than it would gasoline.

IN a RV there are 3 ways to use propane, low pressure vapor, high pressure vapor and liquid withdrawl, all of them having their good points and bad points. Do some research before you jump into this.

I did call generac and they do not offer any kits or advice. They suggested to go to other companys that offer kits on the internet. That was all they had to say.

Thanks, Robert

I have a 99 Tradewinds DP with a propane generac 6.6kw. 55 gal propane tank. I have been told by several other owners of the same rig that that much propane lasts 3-4 days boondocking with the a/c running. I really wish the gen was diesel.

My rv had a gen (motor runs but no power, worthless now), and is set up for low pressure LP, My RV's engine is a diesel, so adding another tank for Gasoline seems a bit to much to have 3 different fuel types on the rig. Just that much to worry about. I would love to get a diesel generator but they are lots of $$$$$$. So looks like I would stick with a LP Generator.

Thanks for the replies so far, Robert.

The job basically involves a new carb and perhaps a solenoid. (Gas valve) and of course plumbing.

That said, I'd not recommend it.

Berticus, I have the same problem with my lp generac, no a/c output. Turns out that the stator windings are shorted. A new stator is $300.00 Why don't you repair yours instead of replacing it?

Try US Carburetion. I bought my tri-fuel Yamaha from these guys. They have good service and were knowledgeable. I love my tri-fuel system, it's the best of all worlds.
