Anyone have a miracle cleaner to get spots off without making it worse?

Take it down and soak the whole thing in a bathtub with a good cleaner (I soaked mine in Greased Lightening). Rinse good then lay outside with the folds not real tight (so they will hold their shape) and allow to dry.

Spot cleaning will only clean the spot and leave a stain ring at the spots edge.

Unless your shades are very new, cleaning the spot can leave a "clean" spot and make the whole unit look worse. To do a thorough cleaning - it down, soak in tube, rinse, blot out excess water, and air dry in the heat of the sun if possible. If needs be you can use a very soft brush or sponge to wipe stain. If you can't take down the shade -- try blotting with a damp rag or sponge with plain water or a very weak solution of detergent. A lot of people like Oxyclean for the shades.

I spray Woolite "Oxy Deep" carpet cleaner on the spots on my shades and the spots disappear by themselves. I use the same stuff on the condensation stains I occassionally get on the windshield drapes. The stains magically disappear - great stuff! The only other cleaning that I do to the shades and drapes is to vacuum them with a brush attachment regularly.

I got a ketchup stain out with Oxyclean. They are 5 years old and it didn't leave a "clean" stain.
