I'm not sure if it makes a difference (hopefully more knowledgeable people will jump in), but do you have hydraulic or electric jacks?

I put them down for a couple of weeks, then in the Store position for a couple of weeks.

Thank you all for your replies. Looks like it's 50-50
We plan to go to NYC with the MH during Easter week-end. Your comments made us realize that it is probably wiser to leave them up because there might still be snow on the ground the first week of April
That leaves us an additional year to make up our mind (I want them up my husband wants them down!)

PS. The jacks are hydraulic

At least once in his life, the DH should be right.

Go along with him and you watch the tires and springs as he fully extends the jacks. You'll see how much stress that the jacks relieve from these components. Extending the jacks will keep the tires from getting too far out of round and help keep the springs from taking a set.

As for freezing temps, just put something between the jacks and the ground.

Same here. Just don't take the front tires off the ground.

This has been discussed for years and;

The answer is?

Up or Down reasons for both, Fire engines and Commercial buses go for years and are never on jacks. (same Spartan and Freightliner chassis) and Old motor Homes that are full timing will stay on the Jacks for months and easily drive away. Only thing to remember is in the winter they could freeze onto the ground -- so you may want to put something between the jacks and the ground in cold weather.
No right or wrong answer.

It just a personal choice –so what ever rocks your boat,

I will be parking on gravel, I was wanting to put something down on the gravel for the jacks to sit on. Anything special out there or will a piece of 2x10 work?
Thanks

I live in northern Idaho and have electric jacks. Always store with jacks down to keep weight off of tires, but cycle everything once a month.

We had friends who had to move their MH in a hurry due to some kind of winter flooding and freezing. They had stored the MH with the jacks down and they would not retract. They were fortunate that the waters didn't get too high, but the jacks were frozen into the waters that flooded under the MH. There was some mechanical damage to the jacks due to the ice and water. Flooding is not a normal thing in their area, but heavy rains on heavy snow and ice cover caused quite a disaster. I sent them a link to this topic. I am glad that you all are clarifying this subject.
