I thought there is only two CGs in Everglades NP, FL
I haven't heard of a Midway CG. Where is it?

It is 8 1/2 miles east of Monument Lake on highway 41 or 3.8 miles east of the Big Cypress National Preserve Visitor Center.

We stay at Miami Everglades Camp (miamicamp.com)
It is a great launching point for the keys, not far from the everglades and can easily get big rigs in the pull thru sites.

If you don't want to camp Flamingo (and it's great camping, and plenty room for big rigs), then you should at least drive there for a day. IF you don't see the Flamingo area, you're missing the best part of the Everglades ... believe it!

Midway is in Big Cypress National Preserve. There are many campgrounds in Big Cypress. It is not in Everglades National Park but it does encompass a large area of The Everglades. IMHO you need to visit both places in order to fully appreciate the Everglades.
I have visited both parks numerous times. My late husband and I spent 18 days visiting there in Feb 2008. It is my favorite part of southern Florida, very natural, sparsely inhabited with an abundance of wildlife and lots of back country to explore.
You should have no problem with length at Long Pine Key but finding a spot may be more difficult as it is prime snowbird season. The campground at Flamingo is well set up with many paved pull-through sites and more chance of finding a spot because of the distance from the entrance.
We managed to get in to Larry and Penny Thompson park on a last minute cancellation. We took the 4 days that they had available and then another 3 opened up. They were very helpful and accommodating to work with. We also stayed 9 nights at the west end near Naples at Collier Seminole State Park ( we did have reservations)
I hope that this is helpful.
Safe travels,
Brenda
