Does anybody put string lingts under the rig to keep rodents away? I have ordered LED lights but am wondering if its going to keep the wire eating critters away.
Your thoughts

Your thoughts It'll probably work if the LED lights are 120V and they chew on the LED wiring!! At least they will be able to see what they're chewing before the BIG FLASH!!

I think the lights will attract them more than it will repel them.

Hmmmm. A nice warm spot? I use ultrasonics.
Transonic (Weitech) makes an ultrasonic pest repeller that will run off of 12 volts. I know these things work inside houses, because we've used them successfully for over 20 years, and we live very rural. I decided to try putting one (Transonic Pro is current model) UNDER my RV while it is parked. I asked the manufacturer and they said to place the Transonic under the trailer inside a Tupperware bowl with holes near the speaker (keeps out rain and snow). Sound will come out behind too, so place the unit near the end of the trailer, say 5 feet in. Putting a cinder block at the far end would be good to help the sounds echo. Setting it off the ground for weather protection is good too.
Seems to me if the critters never go under my rig, they will not chew wires, insulation, or be able to get inside.
I installed it early fall of 2004. I'm running it off the trailer battery, by connecting to the TV cord. I use a solar battery charger when stored, and am watching the voltage to be sure it keeps up.
I didn't want to kill the mice once they were in the trailer, I want them to not get in. Problem is I do not want to poison grandchildren, pets, or wild animals (we live VERY rural), all of which we seem to have wandering around here.
So far, no mice, or any other critter trouble, with TT.

Hmmmm, now that is a new one! Love to hear your reasoning on this jim and di, or where you got the idea. Couldn't be any LESS effective than some of the other remedies I've seen, and even tried. And mice are nocturnal.....?

I can assure you that the lights will not deter them. I see one ccasionally wandering around in my shop and the light over my workbench stays on 24/7. I keep a trap set in there and usually within a day or so of seeing one he'll be in it.

I had heard about this a few years ago, after researching, the trick is florescent spiral 120v bulbs. They emit a frequency that deters rodents, I assume like the ultrasonic deterents. I've used them in my sheds for at least three years and can verify it works. Prior to using them every summer unpacking outdoor furniture stuff I'd find droppings and nests. Same with getting into the machines I kept in there, quad, riding mower ect. Now I have one I believe 17watt bulb in a lamp I leave on. Basement too!
