I'm wondering if anyone has added airride to there front springs. I seen a set of the tubes that go inside the springs and then you blow them up to 30 to 90 lbs pressure.

Would these be good to give you a litlle bit smoother ride. Would it hurt to just put them on the front????

Thanks for any info...

The P30 chassis used them to help the front springs with the front axle weight.

I just replaced the bags on the front of my MH with Airlift 1000's. I bought the MH about a month ago (89 Southwind 27',P-30 Chassis)and the bags were torn up. I googled the bags and found them on Amazon for $83. for the whole kit (2 bags, hoses, fittings) with shipping.
It took 3 hours to replace them and was a real pain. I had to cut the old bags out with a sawzall and razor knife, then stuff a 5" bag into a 2" hole in the bottom of the A-frame! A lot of soappy water and foul language! I have a lot of truck repair experience and many of the tools and it still was tough.
I when to Airlift web site and got part number, the look up on Amazon didn't list my unit but they did carry the bags by Airlift's part number.
The MH sits a lot more level and rides smoother with the bags at 60psi. I'd say worth the money and trouble.

Firestone has bolt on airbag kits. The kit I put on my MH was a very easy bolt on. It fit with no problem, and clear directions. I added a kit that has a 12 volt compresser, tank, pressure switch, gage and valve so I can adjust them while driving.

What brand of chassis do you have? What type of suspension. Air by its self is not magically soft. Air has a spring rate, just like any other spring. The reason air ride CAN be soft has to do with the type of spring. Reversing sleeve air springs have a very soft rate at the correct ride height, but the spring rate changes dramatically as the spring gets out of its center range. This gives a very soft ride on medium to small bumps. but will be about the same as conventional suspension on large bumps. Other types of air springs are much more linear.

1996 Damon Intruder. Ford Chassis. I rides pretty good but was just wondering if I put them in would it make a little better ride.

I found a set for $86.00 but jut looked a little. Probably can find a bit cheaper but I was more concerned if they would really help or not.

The movie on the airlift 1000 I found show putting them up thru between the springs not thru the hole in the bottom.

I will look up the Firestone ones also.

Mine didn't come with air bags but just wanted to add a little softer ride on the bumps if possible.

Thanks Dad

Air spring assists will probably have minimal affect on your ride comfort.

Although a lot more expensive, a set of Koni FSD shocks will have a much greater affect------at least they made a world of difference in getting rid of the harshness over tar strips and the like with my MH.

Thats alot of what I was looking for. Some roads with lots of tar strips will drive me crazy with the thumps.

If you want a softer ride you can add airsprings and the attach a small tank to each spring to lower the spring rate. The larger the tank you add the lower the spring rate for the air spring. So you do have the option of varying the spring rate with air. And you can add a self leveling function as well using a height sensor with an onboard compressor.

The AirLift 1000 is not designed for your F53 chassis. They are designed for coil spring applications. The AirLift 5000 is designed for F53 chassis. The front part # is 57140, and the rears are 57208. Both are considerably more than $86.

Firestone part numbers are 2070 (front) and 2068 (rear) both are over $300 each.

If your rig rides fine except for the bumps, get Koni FSD's. The air bags won't soften it has much as they will control side to side, and front to rear motion. Air bags in the rear especially will help level your F53, as they are known to suffer from spring sag in the rear.
