Here's a link to a list of oils that are either GM 4718M (a tougher spec that is only met by synthetic oils) or GM 6094M approved.
Oils meeting GM specs.
Thanks for the list of oils. I have not changed the oil yet and have not looked into their approved oils. I have used Mobil 1 for years so it appears that my oil selection won't change. The change interval will change though since the oil life % is shown for the first time.
You're welcome.
These oil life monitors are a little spooky to me yet. I have a tough time letting my 03 Corvette go to 10,000-12,000 miles before changing oil (which its oil life monitor would OK). However, I change it once a year which is about 7,000-8,000 miles.

I use the Mobil 1 'Extended' version and change it in the fall when putting it to sleep for the winter. Mileage is around 7000.

If you really want to get technical you can send a sample of your oil to be analysed. But I know lots of guys who are running it as a extended drain motor oil, up to 18,000 miles in their VW TDI diesels and getting extremely good used oil analysis readings on the used oil when they do change. In other words, it could be pushed further.
I'm running the Mobil 1 Extended Performance in my MH and changing it each fall. About 6000 miles between changes.

Went to my local WAL-MART yesterday, and found the new Castrol EDGE Synthetic 5QT bottle for $19.50. There is also a $10. Castrol mail-in rebate available now for a final price of $9.50 plus tax.

Shortly after getting my Bounder I changed the oil since I didn't know how long it had been in there. The Motorcraft semi-syn 5W-20 is recommended and I used it. My service advisor said next time to go ahead and use a full syn. There's no guidelines on what ratio a blend is and a full syn will take the temp extremes these engines see.

I send my Mobil 1 for analysis. Used to do it every 6-7k, now annually, which is 10-15k. Change filter at each analysis. Last time I had a recommendation to change the oil had 45k on it. Ford 2000 V-10. Amsoil dual filter system. Engine uses about a quart per 3000 miles; has always done so. Now have 115k on engine, no measurable change in performance. Gas mileage actually went up from 7.75 to 8.0 for this summers travels.

My previous MH was the V10 and last oil changes I put in Mobil 1 5-20 and ran it 5000 just like the book sez you can do. Ford sez 5,000 on the blended stuff so the full synth is just that much better. Motor used little or no oil between changes.
