I know this is a camper site, But my truck is part of the camper ! I have a 2005 f-350, 6.0 Diesel. The truck is running rough and smokeing realy bad! It is black smoke or over fueling. 66000 Miles on it. Was in the shop for 2 weeks to get a fuel regulater of some sort. Got it back and is running as bad as it was as when I brought it in.
Any ideas ?

Did you get it up to HWY spped yet? These thing get carboned up. Also that fuel pressure is critical.

Honestly, not trying to start anything here but....It's 2005 6.0 - that might be the problem.

Many, many have had good service from theirs, my brother did not.

Has it been parked for 2 weeks? Did it run ok when first brought home? Might need the processor re-flashed.

Just as a general statement, black smoke tends to be caused by low boost(leak/ bad turbo) or leaking injector(s)

I have an 06 with 30K on it. I drove it like a grandma and left it sit and idle too long thinking it shouild be treated like a semi. Boy was I wrong. I ended up plugging it up with carbon, and by letting it sit the turbo rusted up.

I was instructed to use a fuel additiveand to not baby that engine that turbo needs to work.

Take it to a Ford dealer, you may want to check the dieselstop forum for some similar issues. Half of the posts you will get here are from folks who never owned one.

I'd take it back to the dealer. Well, maybe not that dealer because some are pretty bad with diesels.
