Big Mac, our 13 year old Greyhound, has developed kidney and bladder problems. He will be going in for surgery Tuesday morning for biopsies and possible removal of obstructions that showed up on scan. Being this old it will be touchy but he's a fighter and survivor. He beat leukemia several years ago. Please wish him luck and we'll keep you updated.

Big Mac, keep fighting and hang in there. My 13 year old Scottie has had two surgeries for blockages (he would swallow things), but the surgeries were always a breeze for him, even last year at age 12. He, too, is a fighter. Prayers, of course.

Update: After careful consideration and consultations with vet Big Macs surgery has been put on hold. He's been on heavy duty anti-biotics for a week now and he's a new dog. He's put back on the weight he had lost and back to running in the yard and actually playing in the house. For those of you who are not real familiar with greyhounds, especially retired racers, their immune systems are very low as they are not given the normal immunizations other dogs get when they are young. They have to go through drug tests at the tracks to prevent "doping". Therefore surgeries can be devistating to them. Plus with his age he has even more going against him. We'll be keeping a close watch on him and hopefully he'll be able to continue as is without the extra stress that surgery would place on him. Thank you all for your concern.
