Just returned from a trip to Myrtle Beach. Stopped at a Wal Mart on the way down, same one we use every year. When we pulled in there were 4 motor homes and 3 trailers there. Two of the motor homes had their slideouts out jacks down and one of them had their awning open. One fifth wheel also had their slideouts out and was grilling on a charcoal grill. I had to check because I thought I was in a campground. I was amazed at what I saw and wonder how long it will be until we are kicked out of there. But no matter how many times it is brought up on this forum and other forums, people will continue to ruin a good thing.

I have no problem with what you are reporting as long as they leave the next morning. I don't think Wal*Mart cares either.

And no body can blame Wal-Mart when they ban overnight parking.
Unfortunately, you will always find ignorant people in any given group or geographic locality.

Kind of reminds me when I pulled into a Walmart up in Maine. There was a 30 foot or so travel trailer, all by it's self. Had shrubs in those two foot pots, along the front, a couple of lounge chairs, a 10 X 8 or so rug by the front door. Around 7 o'clock that night he drives in with a women, stays for an hour or so, then leaves, an hour or so later comes back with a different women for an hour so then leaves. I think it would be fair to say, that if I were the manager of a Walmart and saw my parking lot turning into a campground with slides out, chairs and what have you going on, I would be having signs made up Banning Overnight Parking. Can't think of a reason the awning has to be out, and certainly no need to start up a grill! A slide out may be necessary to reach a bed.
It's just too bad some people think they're entitled to do what they want to do, not what they should do.
BTW, I live in MB and, while it is one of the most camper friendly towns in America, there is serious discussion to ending these free overnights - and it's not coming from the many campgrounds down here! Our local government (out of its mind) is trying to 'gain control' of tourism.
DH and I have used Wal Mart lots for overnight stops, and appreciate the corporation's RV friendliness. We don't have to put our slide out to use our TT and hope to be able to continue to save the $ of a short overnight stay in a CG.
Let's all work at not being noticed when we do it!!

Contrary to the Wal-Mart slide police it's not the use of my slides that set the neighbors off. Lets face it it is hard to hide the fact that a big class A is spending the nite slides in or out. But I agree that we need to not look like a camp site. IE awning, chairs, or grill.

Walmart doesn't worry about the penny anny stuff you're all talking about. They smile all the way to the bank, knowing we spend money there whether we need to or not.
What they do worry about is people staying there for weeks at a time, not to speak of old RVs that get abandoned there, and they have to hassle the towing,....after waiting 30 days..
