An RV Dealer would tell you an F150 was enough truck to pull the trailer.

2) Making an informed decision based on all the available information generally involves at some point a tiny little voice in your head either saying "sounds good, go fer it" or "for God Sake don't do it you'll kill yourself!"

4) spend $250 at J.C.Whitney and convert your F-250 into a F-550.

Can you tow it? SURE
Can you tow it safely? THAT'S SOMETHING FOR YOU TO FIND OUT (not something I would be willing to find out with family in the truck)
Will you be overweight on your ratings? MORE THAN YOU PROBABLY KNOW

By the time you get that loaded up you'll be around 13000 or so lbs which would give you a pin weight of ~ 2600 lbs which in my eyes is too much for a single wheel truck

If you are only going that far I would not worry about it. However if you start "traveling" I would update your truck. Not only do you need something that will be safe you will need something that you can enjoy driving while pulling.

I know you will enjoy your cardinal. come over to the cardinal web site cardinalrvclub.org

good advice for pulling that load only 5 miles.

Your truck isn't a SRW as that designation is for the 3500 SRW. The 2500 is just a 2500. I would be concerned with the rear tires load capacity depending on the 5ers actual pin weight. Most 2500 HD trucks have a 3000+ lb payload capacity, tires and axles, which leaves approx 2500-2700 lb for pin weight before overloading the rear tires. You may need higher capacity E tire if your pin weight is over their capacity.

A chip isn't necessary as it doesn't help your problem of small carrying capacity of the little 2500 truck.

I've read a few Tundra owners who have this combo. NO problems, don't even know it's back there. I don't tell my truck its overweight?? Wait till your truck tells you its overweight

We have the F250 7.3L PSD crewcab shortbox. Our fifth wheel is a 25 footer with a GVWR of 7,000 lbs and a pin weight of about 1,700 lbs when loaded for a trip. On that trip, the fiver actually weight 7,800 fully loaded with water and gear.

If we ever go larger on the fifth wheel, we'll also be upgrading the truck. We've done enough miles with this combination to know that something heavier or longer would make the trip too edgy for our comfort level.

I'm running a 05 F350 SRW, which will rate about the same weights as you. My trailer is probably a few hundred pounds lighter then yours when empty. We are right on the edge of the weight limits. We have plenty of power. I would not chip the 6.0. We pull up into the Colorado Mountains several times a year which is a little over 400 miles. I would say if you stay local you will be fine.

Chipping the 6.0 is asking for trouble and if you haven't had any to date with your engine, don't tempt fate. That's the only part of your post I'm going to address as I am not predisposed to becoming just another "pellet" in the load of buckshot you're going to get about 'towing-weights-in-relation-to-trucks' on this forum.

Are you being sarcastic or do you mean that if you look far enough you'll find a dealer which would ok this combo? Sometimes I wonder why people on this forum make these posts. It must be because they got taken by their dealer. Perhaps if you feel this way about dealers you should go to a dealer that has a good reputation. In my opinion, it is just as important to research your dealer as it is the brand of fiver you buy. I do agree that a lot of nice people get taken by dealers, & I am not saying that all dealers are good. Just research your dealer & use common sense. As an example, if you were buying a car or truck, would you believe a salesman who says "this car will get 50 mpg when the door sticker says 32mpg?

We were attending an alpenlite rally at Beaudry's rv in tucson once time so we walked around the rv lot and they had fifthwheels with the correct size ford trucks sitting beside the fifthwheels. I said to the salesman that would a great idea and he pulled out a card that showed what truck could carry the fifth's weight. I agreed with their thinking. I don't remember any 3/4 ton trucks were recommended
