Look for the ones who are really relaxed and have the big smiles on their faces!!! lol! Other then that I haven't found a good way to tell the difference.

One part of our group can usually be found anchored out. We use our dingy when we need to come into town.

Yep. And you don't need any keys. Just talk to your neighbors and/or fellow RV'ers. Especially since you will "socialize" with the "other" groups. During our year on the road, we found that most of the folks we spent time with was enjoyable, regardless of how long either of us was going to be in a particular area........

While we will certainly still socialize with the other groups and there is nothing wrong with them, are there any keys to picking out the equivilent RVers (ie: full time or longer term who move fairly regularly.)?

At my retirement party, the folks presented me with what they perceived a full timer should wear:
One-piece cotton/polyester jump suit w/embroidered lion on chest and elastic belt
Tennis shoes with velcro instead of laces
Visor cap
Big, wrap-around sun glasses (the kind that you wear over your glasses)

I am quite the spiffy full timer!

SD, or TX tags could be a hint.

If they have SD plates there is a pretty good chance they are full timers.

Great ideas, guys.

So where do I get my polyester jump suit and can I have a dragon instead of a lion or does that signify a different type of camper. ; )

My husband and I are RV wannabe's but hopefully within the next couple of years this will change. When we pull into the Cracker Barrel and see an RV in the parking lot, we look at the customers and try to pick out the RVers from the crowd. It's usually pretty easy to do. They are relaxed, tanned and seem to enjoy life more so than the people around them. I cannot wait.

Can't always tell the fulltimers by the ladder...ours collapses and fits into the cargo bay...never liked seeing it out my back window!

The majority of FT's don't put out all the decorations, lights, etc....it takes up too much valuable space. Therefore, most usually don't use awning lights, lamp posts, etc. We'll usually only have two chairs out, maybe a ground mat and alot of us use the Weber Q or Baby Q grills cause they're easy to store...see the theme emerging ...LOL...cargo space is at a minimum!!

Most of us, however, were weekenders or part-timers at one time...I do remember setting up all the "stuff" just for two nights...had to make the most of our time off. Enjoy and get to know all types of Rver's, they all may have some valuable input on your new lifestyle...
