In the paper a week ago they said that the old Charles Kuralt on the road series was available as a best-of compilation on three DVDs. I have the first one now from Netflix and have just watched it. Wow what a wonderful show with RVing as a central themed way to see America. I was a bit too young to appreciate these shows the first time around in the 80's, but now they are great.

Kuralt travels in the show in a beautiful FMC that looked like it was pretty new at the time.

The shows are an absolute slice of Americana and a snapshot of that time. Very enjoyable. It shows what our RV lifestyle is all about at its best.

I can remember watching those shows--they were terrific!!
I can even remember the music from it! I'll have to get those to watch!

Thanks for the update.

It's going on my Christmas list, too.
FYI, his FMC is on display at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. It sure was a huge MH in it's day. Even today, it's a good looking rig.

B BOB: Thanks for posting this information. I intend to get the set. I remember when he was doing this and it was the high spot of the week for TV. I understand he used about 12 different motor homes for this series, not sure about that now, but read about it somewhere. These CD are archival in nature, as that time will never again present itself, even though they will try.

I seem to remember that early on Kuralt traveled in a Clark Cortez. But in the DVD I watched the other day they only showed him in the FMC.

We loved this show.
Kuralt started in a Cortez, went to several Travcos, the FMC was his last.
