My original tires were going to be 7 Years old, so I went around getting price quotes and comparing the different tires. I settled with the "Goodyear G670 RV" tire because it has a built in "UV" protection built into the tires.

My local Goodyear Dealer didn't have the tires on hand and had to order them, I went ahead and gave a down payment so they could ordered them, thinking that after all being ordered they would be brand new and just manufactured and made arangement to have them install when they arrived.

Guess what Goodyear Tire Co. did, they sold me tires that were allready three (3) years old!! No joke!!

I contacted "Goodyear Tire Co." and complained to no avail. They said that the warrenty starts at the time of the sale and that the age of the tire didn't matter! Do you belive that! They would not even disconut their old tires! Sad.

"Goodyear Tire Co." really, really let me down, boy what a company. Now I got so called new tires that are allready three (3) years old which means I will have to buy another set in just four (4) years instead of the usual seven (7) years! That really, really sucks.

Lesson well learned!

Guess which tire I won't be buying next time, Thats right!

Now, I will only buy tires when I can see the date of mfg. on them before I purchase them.

Don't make the same mistake that I made.

Hope this information is usefull to all.

The tire companies state that tire age doesn't matter as long as the tires are stored correctly. And you do have a new tire warranty.
Yes, you should have specifed that the tires had to be less than 6 months (or whatever you deemed proper) on the order. Our tires were manufactured 4701 or around that time. They're almost 8 years old and still look OK. Tires DO NOT automatically have to be replaced after 5 or 7 years. Michelin puts it in writing that the tires are good till they're 5 years old, then they should be inspected yearly and absolutely replaced at 10 years.

When ordering tires always state that the manufacturer date must be less than six months old. Otherwise the order is cancelled and all money must be refunded.

Manufacturers standing behind their warantees for X years after date of purchase (on new, 3 year old tires) does not float my boat. A tire blow out could cause thou$and$ in other RV damages - not to mention the inconvieniences associated with a blowout.

Sale based on manufacture date of X (for me perhaps 9) months seems not only fair, but prudent as well.

Yes...and when two of them were 6 months over my specified date, the dealer knocked off $100 each! Good dealers know that out dates are BS. What's really strange here is that with all the shortages/backlogs on 670's that GY could even find 3 year old tires in inventory,

I would not be happy about this either. They know at the very worst they may have to replace one or two of these tires under warranty. You on the other hand are taking all the chances of a tire failure and all the damage/aggravation that goes with it. I recently purchased a Jayco TT that I ordered in August and was built in Late Sept. IT had a new USA Marathon on the spare with a date code of 3509 which is fine. The other 4 were Chinese Marathons with date codes ranging from 2808 to 3108 meaning they were already well over a yr old! Maybe I`m being picky, but I expected fresher tires on a newly ordered rig. 3 yr old tires really bites....

No manufacturers' assertions will help when you want to sell your unit and the buyer sees that date code.

I'd consider going to small claims court. It was reasonable to expect much newer tires, and a responsible dealer would have ensured that.

3 months ago I shopped for tires and also picked Good Year for the replacements. I told the dealer I wanted fresh tires. Dealer had 6 in stock but they were already nearly 3 years old. I refused them and the dealer ordered in fresh tires from his distributor. The big point here is risk of life and consequential damages which the tire manufacturer is not going to cover. Tire warranties suck any way. I replaced 6 Michelin's that had only 3600 miles on them, but they were horribly weather checked. Michelin would not stand behind them. Tires were covered in storage. Dealer told me Michelin has a problem with weather checking. He sells their line also.

Yep. I ordered 4 Goodyear SA Pro Grade Wrangler AT's for my little 19' Tiger CX. I specified tires less than 6 months old. The salesman called two warehouses while I waited, and wound up getting four that were about 6 _weeks_ old.

Of course, this is a pretty pricey tire, and I think it's a fairly new type for GY, so there's less likelihood that they'd have been sitting around.
