Took the ATV to northern Wyoming to ride. Filled it there and also a 6 gal can. The fuel was probably refined in the area.

Brought home some. Every time I open the can, it reeks. Kinda smells like nautral gas--strong.

Any idear why?

Gasohol has a very rancid smell, so it is probably E-85. Just remember, gasohol will go bad in a matter of 4-6 weeks, unlike regular gas that will set for 3 or 4 months before going bad.

And E85 is very bad to put in an engine not designed for it.

You said "Strong" Did you know there is gasoline, gasoline and gasoline?

For example... In Detroit, MI. in the summer, they add chemicals to the gas to increase the vapor temp. this is so it does not evaporate as fast and as a result air pollution is reduced (or so they claim) Now.. You burn this gas in the winter.. It don't burn so good if your engine has a carburetor. OK with FI though.

Of course if you buy gas in say Feburary. come August it's goning to smell strong cause it has a lower vapor point and thus more smell when hot.

Don't know if this is your problem... but as Lenord Nemoy used to say on the show IN SEARCH OF.... This is one answer, not necessary the only answer, or even the right answer. (or something like that)
