Hi,
I am fairly new to this snowbird thing, but I sure do like it!!!! I am curious, do you go to the same park every winter? Or, do you try different parks in the same general location, or do you winter in different parts of the country each winter?
I will be staying in the same park in FL this winter as last year. It is a nice park, but the main reason is the location. It is near my elderly parents condo, so for now, that is where I need to be. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining- I'm lucky to still have my parents and FL is great. But, down the road I might like to try TX and AZ.

We go to Sigsbee (NAS Key West) every winter because of the location and price. We also have many friends who do the same, so we always have plenty to do all winter.

This is our 13th yr of FTing and we wintered in the same park for the first 6 yrs and then in our current park since then. DW has medical problems (18th surgery in that time coming up in 3 weeks) and though we love the area and balmy weather, our primary reason for returning is the familiar faces in the 'body shop.' Because we are in the mode of returning, we bought a RV lot in our 1st location and again in our current location. Makes returning without worrying about reservations easy.

Our first winter, we tried about a dozen campgrounds for a week at a time down the west coast of Fla, into the Keys, up the east coast of Fla, and ended up in Hilton Head SC. We chose a place we liked best to spend a month in for our second year and spent the rest of our three months continuing to look for a better place; we didn't find one. As a result, our third winter (fourth and upcoming as well) have been spent at the same place. Each of us like different venues, campgrounds, activities, climates, and crowds. We found ours by searching all over Fla. IMHO, it's the only way to make sure; and we're exceedingly happy with our choice. Good luck ... camp on!

We are only January snowbirders and spend a week at a time in each of four parks; close to paved bike trails which is our recreation.
Friends of ours moved around early in their snowbirding days then got tired of the hassle of moving and now stay in one place. I suspect that is the situation with many others.

We return to the same park. We were at one for 5 yrs and this will be our 3rd winter at this one just a mile from the first park! We changed parks in order to have more activities and a larger lot - still return to first park to visit friends and spend an occasional evening playing cards with them.

We changed parks every year except one time at Canyon Vista in Az. We like to just see different plcaes and people.

This will be our 3rd winter at Sanlan RV Park in Lakeland Florida. We, as well, have looked at other parks, but like this one the best "for us". We do intent to go to Arizona for a winter in the next couple of years just for a change of scenery.

Hi,
I would think the same old place would get very boring year after year.
Try Tombstone some year, or the Escapees RV park just north of there in Benson Arizona. Lots of things to see in that area, and you can try someplace else nearby the next couple of years. Tucson air museum is also a lot of fun to look at the WW2 airplanes and the newer ones as well.
Many say the Congress and Casa Grande escapee parks have the best weather in the middle of the winter. I like the Corsegold RV park in the spring and fall, as it is adjacent to Yosemite National Park. Then there is a great place in Oregon and Washington to spend the summer.
For now, you can window shop all these places from your home, close to your parents in Florida. But as for me, it is to humid there. You might break the news to your parents that you plan to spend some time away - perhaps plan a trip to Arizona for a couple of months to try it out.
Remember to check the weather at www.weather.com before you drive there. I found out the hard way in 1988 when I bought my new to me camper, then drove to the Grand Canyon over Thanksgiving weekend. It snowed, and there was a inch of ice of the roadway. I did not see much of the canyon because of the fog, but had fun anyway, and went to nearby Laughlin on my way back home. Along the Colorado River, it was much warmer at around 800 feet elevation than at 6,500 feet at the south rim of the Grand Canyon.
Make the best of where ever you end up going. At least you know the best places for breakfast and dinner where you are in Florida.

Boring?? Not for us. This is our 16th season in the same park. because we spend much of each summer on the road it is great to come "home" and greet/viatit our many friends and get back to our regular activities.
