Don't forget how you are going to secure the chairs when you are moving.

We also removed the dinette seats from a TT and replaced them with two comfortable office chairs. With the castors on, we could move them around for easier tv viewing. Bungeed them to the table posts for travel. Kept & used the table. When we sold the trailer the original dinette seats went with it but the new owners opted to keep using the chairs.

I would love to do the same but there are two large storage deawers under the benches I would miss. What do you do for a dinning table when the dinette is gone? Do you use TV trays?

We wanted to do something like that in our MH - remove dinette and just have free standing chairs - but someone cut holes in the carpet to attach the seatbelts. So now if we decide to make the change - we have to change the flooring... Needlesstoday, we have decided not to make the change at this time....

Here's a shot of the inside with the dinette out. The table is a freestanding table and we'll continue to use it. Ideally, we like to find a swing arm tray that attaches to the wall or floor and can be 'swung' in and out for use. It would need to be big enough to hold an 18" laptop.
The mark you see in the floor is where the speaker wire was run for the outdoor speakers we have on the camper. I just rerouted the 2 wires under the linoleum and the hole will be covered with a rug or something.
The chairs won't have rolling casters on them, we will use bell glides which are little feet. I don't think the chairs will move or tip over during travel as wide as the bases are. We'll see.
That little cabinet you see next to the toilet is not fixed there. It was removed from beside the door and will no longer be in the camper. On the right of the first picture you see a towel covering a toaster oven as well as a coffee pot and griddle. These items were being stored under the benches but will go elsewhere now.
The comfort gained from the new chairs far outweighs the loss of the bench storage area.

This is and will be our only camper unless a catastrophe destroys it. If you look at our web sites, you'll understand why. Plus, I couldn't imagine doing the 50 some odd mods I have done on this camper to another one!

The new chairs are in and holy cow are they comfortable! This just might be our best mod yet. No more stiff, upright 90 degree benches with pitiful cushions! Now we can sit for hours comfortably and enjoy eating, reading, watching TV, using the laptops, etc.
Although hard to tell in the pictures, they are not up against the wall and they have room to swivel. They sit on rubber feet instead of wheel casters so they won't move while in transit. Disregard the towel under the table - LOL.

Nice!
Man I hate my benchs too! As it is we have to have the DS eat sitting on the sofa due to him being 14 years old and all elbows, NTM he's gettin' a little bigger than Dad so there's less and less room for both of us LOL
Certainly looks comfortable.
