More in keeping with your opinion, the WM in Watkins Glen, NY has No Overnighting signs in keeping with a local ordinance. But I was advised the local cops have better things to do than enforce it. That's not to say they won't get bored some night & decide to.
There is a very nice village operated campground almost next door. And the lakefront park across the street. That is probably the reason.

Same here. We stopped only to buy stuff, knowing this Wal-Mart didn't encourage overnights. Ole Barney came 'roaring' over in his golf cart, caught us coming out the door and yelled that we could not overnight in HIS lot.

We about-faced, got back on board and drove away. (K Mart was glad to have us.) Called later and got an apology, but we don't go to that one any more. Kingman in general doesn't seem too RV-friendly.

We checked this year in Kingman and Flag and was told they enforced the ordinance of no RVs in public parking lots even WalMarts. ?????

One year, when going to Klamath for Salmon fishing, we stopped at the Long's or Rite-Aid in Willits and spent lots of money in the store on stuff we didn't really need, unhooked and went to Burger King and came back and hooked up and spent the night.

The next morning, when we woke up and were getting ready to leave, about 6AM or so, I went outside to start the truck and noticed 4 patrol cars stationed at the perimeter of the lot facing us at each quadrant.

My guess is we were the excitement of the night.

We have since found a park that has a 100ft pull through (we need 72ft of it) that is actually cheaper than the store.

We were asked to leave a WW while waiting to get into a dealer's service shop.....we did and went across the street to an abandoned shopping center.....

BTW...we spent lots of $$$$ at the WW and ate breakfast at the fast food place.....we left home at 3 am and arrived at the dealer's (where there was no parking until the gates opened at 8am)about 7 am for a 8:30 appt.

wow..thanks for all the replies. I guess it is does depend on location. In our city, I saw usually 1 or 2 RVs parked in the WalMart and all I thought was, I hope that they had a good stay and how could they sleep with all the traffic on the busy street? I guess the cities with high RV traffic because of area attractions could get too busy and therefore problems could arise.

We have never been asked to leave. I was asked one of the dumbest questions ever heard. The manager at Hidden Ridge in Hopkins, Mi. asked me if my 6 month old tail wagging, love everybody yellow lab was aggressive. I guess all the adults and kids around her wasn't sufficient. Sorry for the rant but what a MORON !!!!!!!

Once you sleep in an RV for more than the occasional night here and there, you'd be surprised how used to noises you can get.

When we first started traveling, my wife couldnt sleep in truck stops, now we can sleep between two idling diesel tractors and not even notice it

We're full-timers and have stayed in more places than we can count. We've been asked to leave once by a security guard that roamed the parking lot in a flashing golf-cart. However, one morning we woke up (in a parking lot) and noticed that we had spent the night less than five feet from a sign that read "No Overnight Parking". Who reads.

Not really kicked out but did get a "courtesy parking ticket" in Seaside OR. Pulled in to set up for a cat show, absolutely no signs saying no RV parking. when we came out later there was the "ticket" saying the area was signed no RV parking. I went and looked up and down the street, took pictures of the signs that were there. Sent an email and the pictures to the city hall. They clearly showed no signs prohibiting RV parking. They STILL maintained it was signed, I sent a reply and asked them to point out the signs in the pictures I sent. Never got an answer. Was back there this summer for another cat show (stayed at a KOA this time, what a rip off) and looked again, STILL no signs!!
