Hi Gang!

Just recently became full time and am in the process of moving my residence to Texas with the help of Escapees. I am getting insurance quotes on my TT and tow vehicle and the process is at best making my hair hurt (and there is very little left to hurt!) and at worst am really getting major sticker shock on the costs of the insurance. Any suggestions on which companies are reasonable and what coverages are the best to get?

Thanks.

Foremost has been reasonable for me.. but.. I'm dealing with them right now on a towing claim, and it's a mess. I guess the bottom line is getting paid, but, when you're passed around among 3 agents and given 2 claim numbers and nobody knows what the others are doing, it's disconcerting.

I shop my insurance every year, and for the past 6 years now , as of Sept, Nationwide has been the most bang for the buck. That is my experience and I am a Texas resident.

Reasonable insurance? In Texas? Yeah, right.

OK, the best I found on our rv is with Progressive. You can got thru the web (what I did) or you can go to an independant insurance agent. The web is less expensive, but you have no agent.

BTW, one reason, other than cost, that I went with Progressive, my son in law has a body shop and sings the praises of Progressive claims adjusters nearly every day.

Everything in Taxes is BIG!! If you can get USAA, they are one of the better carriers and rates are reasonable for Taxes. While folks think no state income tax is a biggie, I relocated to Big D area from Northern Virgnia and it was basically a wash but insurance is certainly a major hit.

I think you would find that if you were 'located' in Livingston, TX as most of us who are fulltimers and use Escapees are, that there would be a noticable reduction in your insurance premiums. The metroplex is not some place where insurance is going to be cheap.

Also for fulltimers it is important to remember that you need FULLTIMER insurance - it is different than just auto insurance. If you go to the Escapees web site (www.escapees.com) and look under their commerical directory, you will see several agents that specialize in RV insurance and know what a fulltimer is and how to make sure you get the correct policy.
