Yes, you can run a board thru the bottom of a 5th wheel or TT. Done it, been there. Now when it happens, it is tough to get the board out !!!

There is a very very simple trick to eliminate this from happening. All you have to do is take a 2x4 block and turn sideways before the 5th wheel or pulls up onto the board or exits off the board. The 2x4 block will tilt while the trailer tire pulls up onto the board. Boards will not lift one inch. If needed, you make a little ramp by stacking the 2x4 blocks. I cut my 2x4 blocks about 12 inches wide

This is the smartest and simplest answer I have heard in a long time!

Mine doesn't get used like it once did so I block it up to save the tires. Anything to help the tires in this heat. This isn't upstate ny!

Best solution would seem to be to reduce the width. 2 x 12 is nice, but I use 2 x 8, and seem to work fine. The only advantage of the 12 inch boards would possibly be parking in a pasture etc. to provide more surface to keep from sinking.

They can definitely whip up. I wasn't aware of that possibility and managed to wipe out my dump valve system on my old travel trailer -- so beware and go sllllllooooowwwwwllllly.

Use 2X6" planks, instead. No need for 12" wide planks.

2X6 planks aren't as wide as the read on my tires. I wouldn't want part of the tread hanging off the board for an extended time.

I started out with 6' long planks but found that often the grouind is not only not level but is bumpy. When I backed onto the long boards they tended to crack. 2 shorter boards rest more evenly on the ground.

I use 8"X8" 3/4" plywood squares. The same size as the plastic blocks that I have broken enough times to finally change to the plywood. I cannot understand carrying 2 long 2x8's. rving since 1996 and what we do works great for us.
