So it's OK to run over your GVWR and GCWR but not to do a mod like this?

Went camping, DIDN'T DIE. Love the new to us TC, and having the abiliy to drive and park where any other car does is very nice.

Mark,
Your install was my inspiration! Future pics and details to follow as I plumb this thing in.
Fueling might be a problem.... it wouldn't work would well to convert it to propane because the generator goes on the boat sometimes and the hardware hanging off would be an inconvenience.

At the risk of being Moderated and censored I think we found Brad W Big red button.
I admire both sides of this thread and their convictions.
Have a great holiday season.

FWIW,
I'm with Brad. Even a compartment that incorporates a pull out drawer mount would be better. That way the generator could be fixed to the drawer tracks and be pulled outside the camper to run. Aluminess makes nice boxes that house Honda and Yamaha generators. Here's what one looks like on the new Hallmark K2.

tworock, it is a great looking install but my first thought (before reading the text) was, "How's he going to get that thing out of there to run it?" It's really nice workmanship but I wouldn't run it there. I'd sit it outside.

I agree. A clean instalation does not equal a safe instalation.
It doesn't take much CO to kill someone. There have been people killed just sleeping in a tent next to an RV with a running generator.

That's it, no generators for all!
No wait, no tent's ever!
Wait more...Brad should stay home because:
#1 cause of death in the US is motor vehicle accidents.
#2 falling
#3 Solids/liquid poising
#4 drowning
So stay home, on the ground, away from solids and liquids.

That pull out setup looks like a CO poisoning waiting to happen with the exhaust right there - and I'd never run one that close to any tent (including the pop up part of the camper).
I may not wire and plumb the exhaust for a few reasons, none related to safety as I;d have that covered. Lack of use, fueling solution, it's easy to remove and replace in the 'storage' box all make the added work kind of unnecessary.

In 2005, at least 55 people in the US died from carbon monoxide poisoning associated with portable generators. If nothing else, read the last sentence on the above warning label. It may save your life.
