Hasn't this gotten a little off topic? (from Jo)

Yes...now back to the regularly scheduled feature......

Folks, don't afraid to volunteer or workcamp many miles from services...it can be a "real" adventure

We kept a blog during our summer in AK. There are 7 posts on our experience in Ketchikan and POW Island in August(top to bottom starts with most recent so you should read them backwards): pamperingcampers.blogspot.com/august
This one is the last day in Ketchikan:
silvers.html
Haines is absolutely gorgeous but I'm not sure I'd spend a whole summer there. It's just not close enough to do very many day trips unless you spend a lot of money on ferries: Chilcoot State Park
Chilkat State Park
This is about our drive to Haines Junction: Haines to Haines Jct
Out of these places, I could probably spend the summer in Ketchikan (not sure which my DH would choose).

Thanks. I look forward to reading about your adventures.

There is a campground in Tok that has posted openings on several occasions. I don't know what their current status is, but you might want to do a search in this forum.
