And the LED quality is superior to LCD tvs. The new OLED tvs coming soon have a 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio and a panel 3mm thick(1/8 inch)-unreal!
The only effect we have seen is in bright direct sunlight the LCD screen will turn grey/black and return to normal when out of the direct sunlight.
I'm not really up on all the technology (Is LED available now the same as OLED ??). Costco has three LED TV's available as well as many others at many other stores. I tried the 22" Viore from Costco ($299)
and am quite pleased. Yes thinner than LCD/plasma etc and possibly a better picture. LED also used about 35% less power than LCD and I see a advantage there for RV use.

You should know that certain TVs' cannot be used both in the northern US as well as the south. Same goes for east of the Mississippi and west. It is the glass and materials they use that make them not compatible with different climates.
Please study a bit before you opine.

Oh wise one, I suppose you are too busy to share your obvious "wisdom," or perhaps you thought this was a very subtle joke.
You know, people come to places like this for advice, not be be insulted and ridiculed. People like you ruin places like this.
I for one come to this forum for information & enjoyment. A little humor adds to that enjoyment and I'm pretty sure no one took it seriously. However comments like, "not be be insulted and ridiculed. People like you ruin places like this.", do seriously detract from that 'enjoyment'. Please stop bashing and have a good time.
I realize I'm not a 'senior' member, but I'm willing to bet I have been a member of more forums and for a longer time tham most and bashing has never resulted in anything positive. Just my .02
As for the actual question of this thread, My opinion is wait just a little longer, there are some major improvements coming soon in materials, weight and size.

When I did our outside entertainment center I just used a standard off the WalMart shelf Vizio TV. It's been over 15,000 miles so far and still works great.

One thing you might want to keep in mind that the LCD's consume more electricity than a conventional tube TV. This may or may NOT be an issue when you are on your inverter.

Actually it's a function of size. With screen size constant in terms of power consumption the following is true from lowest to highest, LCD is less than CRT (conventional tube) is less than Plasma. I'm not familiar with the new LED technology.
However, people tend to buy larger flat screens than they used to have with conventional CRT technology, and the larger the screen the higher the power consumption.

Yes, you're absolutely right, and I could agree with you more. That's why I come here, and I share your views about the value of humor. When I read it, I thought "Oh you fools," was bashing. It didn't register as a joke.

Thanks for all the posts. They were very amusing and informative. My final thought is when they deliver these things they do not put them in a controled temp containers on the ship from China to here, I don't think . It really did not occur to us when the man told us to be "careful".
Thanks again

One way to find out for sure. Leave it in a place where the temperature drops down to around 20 degrees and let us know what happens. That will prove to all of us, including the goggle article that states that they will freeze, it will prove that LCD screens will not freeze and not to worry about them. I will be waiting to see what your results are?

LCD does not have water in it. The material has liquid like properties at operating temperature but is actually a solid.
Chemical structure is N-(4-Methoxybenzylidene)-4-butylaniline (MBBA) molecule
