To help with the statement made "only been available since 2010". The manufacture of these cooling units has been manufacturing heat absorption cooling unit coils for the Amish Homes for over 35 years, but it's true about the RV brand-new coils available since 2010. For a manufacture making coils for 35 plus years is not a new start up company.

X2 The BBB shows Pines RV Refrigeration as starting in business in 2002, but that of course, doesn't mean the owner didn't have prior experience either as an individual or under a different company name.

Pines RV Refrigeration is not the manufacture of the Brand-new built cooling units. Larry Miller, owner of Pines is the brother-in-law of JR which is the owner of JC Refrigeration that designs and manufactures all the brand-new units. Both are located in Shipshewana IN. JC Refrigeration does not sell any cooling units, only manufactures. Pines RV Refrigeration is the supplier warehouse and shipping point. Pines RV Refrigeration does not sell to the public. Everyone picks up from the label on all coils that Pines is the builder, not the case. Pines only does the remanufacture of old coils, plus the stocking, shipping of brand-new coils built by JC Refrigeration. All cooling unit coils of both reman's and the brand-new coils will have a label on all coils stating Pines RV Refrigeration.

Then where does National RV Refrigeration, of Shipshewana, fit into this picture? According to the BBB, they were organized in 1989. And they have a A+ BBB rating.

I posted this excerpt from an IRV2 post on another thread a few days ago. The poster appears to see it a bit differently. Apparently it's all in the family anyway, no matter which name is used.

Quote:

I hope "FreeByrd", over on IRV2 doesn't mind, but below is an excerpt from his post related to Pines RV and the Amish cooling units sold by David Force:
Quote:

"After the repairs were completed and before we left Shipshewana, we drove out to the “Family owned” Pines RV location. This is an area of beautiful pristine Amish Farms just outside of town with a very modest Farm House, a Barn and a large shop housing the refrigeration works. There were horses in the barn, the recognizable black Amish Carriage with the Orange Triangle, bicycles but no cars, trucks or tractors. I met the owner, Larry Miller, a nice young man in his 30’s, his father Mervin and later, I met Mervin’s son-in-law, Harley, who owns J C Refrigeration which is a separate shop a few farms down the road which bends all the tubing and does the welding prior to Pines RV’s final assembly, charging, testing and shipping of the finished cooling units.
Told them that I was the person that won David Force’s first Cooling Unit Installation Video Contest and had the cost of the Cooling Unit returned to us. That I just wanted to meet and thank them for building a fine quality product compared to the item that had originally come on the back of our RV fridge.
Harley did mention that they would not only be pleased to do, but would actually prefer to do the installation of their units. That way, they would know that the customer's new cooling unit install was done correctly.
Before leaving, they told me that if I ever had an issue with the unit to let them know. . . because they stood behind what they built."

I should note that the "repairs" he references were not refrigerator related, but rather work he had done at the nearby KZ RV plant.

Leon, owner of another Amish company doing business as National RV Refrigeration. Leon's shop does walk in traffic repairs for warranty service and can rebuild a leaking cooling unit when needed, same as any other RV Dealer Service Shop (other than rebuild coils). National RV Refrigeration is not part of or affiliated with either JC Refrigeration or Pines RV Refrigeration other than a friend with same type of shop, in the same town. JC or Pines do not do any walk in traffic repairs or sells.
Leon does great work..Please do not take anything away from Leon's service ability. If you need a cooling unit reworked, Leon would do a Great job, but if you wanted a Brand-new cooling unit Leon would not be able to build.

Its been 3 years or so since I installed a Dometic cooling unit bought from the Amish. I installed it in my driveway. Actually the frig was laying in my trailer .it was too heavy for the two of us to lift out. a couple hours with a female friend helping.
couldn't be happier. It arrived Fed ex and the core was returned the same way. would do it again. Chuck
