Anybody here running one? I'm talking late seventies or older here.
Back in the day my older brother and I both had Winnebago Braves.
I actually miss them as they were pretty decent motor homes.
I was going through my old (film) photos and found some images of them.
Here they are.

Now that is a classy looking coach. The Elandans/Windcruisers were the best looking ones on the road. Thanks for sharing. I hope you are having a great time with it.

Thanks for the comments. It has been a good unit all these years. We all get the urge to upgrade but it still performs its function well and that is to travel and camp.

I figured as much. 😉 I'm an old school Oldsmobile guy, although most of my Oldsmobile's were 442's with the exception of a Vista Cruiser for good measure.
I did some research on the Olds history, and come to find out, Olds was GM's test bed company. A bit of trivia, Olds made the Toronado in 1966 to see if a front wheel drive could handle that kind of horsepower & torque. It was proven to handle it quite well, in fact, the Toronado was entered into some European endurance races. Not only did they finish where a lot of other makes did not, but they finished well. I'm getting ahead of myself here though. After the design was proven in 1966, in 1967 the Cadillac Eldorado was introduced using this proven technology.
Now with that bit of generally unknown history out of the way, please do enjoy your new to you machine. 🙂

Congratulations on your new find, and I look forward to following your journeys with this new found Gem.
You mentioned it has a 455, and I'm going to assume it's an Oldsmobile engine? Those are fairly bullet proof with good torque. 🙂

The power was a surprise. The day I drove it home it was a bit sluggish off the line getting started. Was at a traffic light light later and decided to put the pedal to the floor. Had no idea I could get the tires spinning out. Could be due to front wheel drive. Doesn't matter to me, it does well cruising at 65. We took for a spin around town and had a couple of thumbs up and one person in the Kroger parking lot wanted to check out the inside.

In the process of working on everything. Copper pipes were in terrible condition but lucky no damage to the coach. Interior electrical work needing done as well as a lot of cleaning. Overall mechanically sound so hope to do a shake down cruise in late February.

Built on a Toronado front wheel drive chassis with a 455. 30K miles but was stored for the last 3 years at a mechanic who drove it periodically and replaced all the belts, hoses, fuel pump, alt. etc.
Glad to be back on this site after a long hiatus.

Interior is solid as a rock. I doubt the solid construction of this is matched in newer units. This is 41 year old cabinetry that does not move or make noise when driving and still has a sheen to it.
