Rear wheel hot on dodge 2006

Just dragged trailer from Saskatchewan to Southern California and pulled into RV park today and I could smell something hot. It was the right rear wheel.
Does my dodge 2500 have a floating axel. Might it be a stuck calliper?
Guess I'll looking for a shop in the morning. ????

Caliper rusted stuck likely if its old enough to have rust.
Could be E brake hung up too but I'd think that would burn itself out pretty quick.
Jack up 1 wheel at a time and see what's stickin. Easy to take a caliper off and check pads, see if it squeezes back etc. can't see the P brake woithiut taking the whole mess apart.

I've also seen the flexible brake line come apart inside blocking the return flow from the caliper and holding the caliper out. It happened on my Ford E350. I always replace the flex lines with the calipers.

Will hook up in the morning and head for Quartsite and try to find a spot to park a few miles out of town. Will check for heating when ever We stop of course. I am sure problem was resolved.
Never been to Quartsite.

Personal experience. You need to have the mechanic check the clearance between the caliper slide pins and and the bore in caliper itself. Loose is better than tight.

My last car went through premium quality rear brake pad in 6-18 months. I finally swapped in rebuilt calipers with pre-assembled pins and mounting brackets. Problem solved.

Based on my experience over the years, I dont think it's the bearings, it's the caliper.
Time to replace both of them.

Check calipers and rear differential fluid level. Your rear axle bearings are lubericated by the diff fluid .

Could it be the wheel bearings on the truck?
