Prius Stealth Camper?

Someone requested that I post pictures of my living situation in my prius. I wasn't sure if I should put here, or in Truck Campers. Seem to fit neither and there is not a suitable area for this. So moderators feel free to move the thread or delete if need be.

Once a week, typically on Sunday, i pull everything out my Prius to give it a good cleaning. i decided to show a step by step process of how the sleeping arraignment is setup. I was also in the process of offloading stuff into storage, as it was getting pretty cramped in the prius.

Sorry I posted this before the post was finished because I'm trying to see if the images are showing, they are not coming up in preview.

And they did not show, so I will be posting a link to them

Above is just a plain image from the outside of the Prius

Above is with the doors open

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzlWElAMuxlRRVRVTkNUUFhqSjQ

Next i remove the passenger head rest and completely lower the passenger seat to the rear

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzlWElAMuxlROXBITnpBS1lRQ3M

Next I lower both rear seats

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzlWElAMuxlRZHBHal9UQy1MOUE

Here is a picture from the rear. From the base of the cargo door, all the way to the front dashboard, I have 102 inches of space, or 8 feet 6 inches.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzlWElAMuxlRZS0wcm92UWEtMTQ

Next I have a 4 inch mattress that is 72 inches long and 27 inches wide that I lay down

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzlWElAMuxlRNm5UTE5PNGc4VnM

About a foot or so of the mattress hangs over the front passenger seat and is not supported, So I have a green cushion I put under the mattress to keep it from sinking.

Next I load up my sleeping pad, sleeping bag, box of food supplies, bag of clothe, toolbox, and other various items needed.

Any questions? or Flame Warriors?

I think I way to old to live like that but my hat is off to you. I have taught scouts for the last 15 years and some back packing items might be of interest to you. Sen a pm if interested. A lot of very small light weight stoves for one.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

I don't know how the Prius system works but with our leaf we can sleep with the AC on and it uses about a 1/2 KW per hour (or less depending on the temp obviously). I would have to measure but I think the leaf would be to short to stretch out.

I think that N200 nissan E van would be a good candidate for a travel van although you would want to choose routes well populated with fast chargers. Alas it is yet another EV not available on this side of the pond. Seems to me they are coming out with a 50 KW version in 2018.

Happy trails.

Mdoverl,

From reading your posts, I appreciate that you ask business owners prior to overnighting there. While it wouldn't be my cup of tea, I respect your decision for living your life the way you want.

Again, you said you check prior to parking in a place overnight. However, there seems to be those who advocate not doing that and potentially parking in front of people's houses overnight. As one who chose a different route, I purchased a nice house in a nice area for my kids to grow up in. I would not appreciate someone sleeping in a car in front of my house. Everyone should respect each other, and that would be disrespectful to how I chose to live my life. Besides, in my town, it is legal to park a trailer on your property, but not legal to sleep in it overnight, so I would think they would frown upon someone sleeping in their car on the street.

I do have a legitimate question, though. You mentioned in your previous posts that you have a car loan. How does one go about getting a loan without having an address? Not prying, I'm just curious.

First off, thank you for actually reading all of the post that I've written. Second i got the car in 2011, when i was renting a house.for government mail and important stuff, i have a friend who let's me use their mailing address.

I'm sorry, I'm guessing you don't have a gmail account to view them. I couldn't figure any other way to post them. It wouldn't let upload them directly from my computer, which i can understand why, the owner of the forum is trying to prevent the servers memory from being taken up by photos. Does anyone here know of a preferred way of linking photos so people without gmail accounts can view them? I'm just so use to exclusively using Google products.

Thanks for the pix. One question . . . you sleep with a teddy bear? ๐Ÿ˜‰

LOL I didn't realize that made it in the picture. Awesome, I don't sleep with it, but it has sentimental value to me.
