Cleaning my Gen.

Not sure where to post this so here I go. I have a small Gen Set that got very dirty from a red dirt road we went down. It is covered with this sticky red rock dust. I am not sure how to clean it all off. Is it safe to take a hose or pressure washer to the unit. It is one of the 1500 W Champion sets. Any help would be great.

From page #13 of the operators manual (directly underneath the warning not to spray with water): "Use a damp cloth to clean exterior surfaces of the engine.
Use a soft bristle brush to remove dirt and oil.
Use an air compressor (25 PSI) to clear dirt and debris
from the engine."

Very few if any consumer market generators, especially open frame like yours are even water resistance. Water is not your friend, I would use first an air hose and air gun and then a terry cloth wiping rag.

Dust should only affect the air cleaner and the esthetics, clean is good but some dirt won't hurt.

Most any soap and water will work. I wouldn't use a pressure washer.
