OK, we are in Charleston now and going to Myrtle Beach next. We want to stop in Cape Hatteras, Baltimore, Gettysburg, Lake George NY to visit friends. We have been up the coast before but are looking for ideas on campgrounds with FHU, maybe some hiking, casinos and racetracks. We are open to where we go. We have all summer until September. Thanks for any and all ideas.

The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY is worth a stop if you're a fan. Looks like you might be in the general area.

TCI, if you want to hike up in the Adirondacks or just relax, stay at the North Pole Resort in Wilmington, NY. Stay in their 100 Acres area, big pull thru sites, mixed hardwoods and pine trees, quiet, clean shower houses, FHU's. Lake Placid/ Saranac Lake area close by. Enjoy.

When in Baltimore, visit Fort McHenry. One of the best historic sites I have been to. It is in town, but right beside I-95.

Williamsburg Va. like others have said is a +. So is Harpers Ferry, there is a KOA between the town and Charles Town stayed there last year its very good. As far as Md. Very limited camping as far as campgrounds go. If near the south there is a private C/G called Cherry Hill, which is great (esp. if planning a side trip to DC.) the other is a KOA further north in Millersville. Not much going on in that area. Gettysburg, there are quite a few C/G's in the area all are pretty good, as are the activities. Good Luck and Happy Camping !!!

Chincoteague has several FHU parks. The old Maddox Family CG went KOA this year and they're sprucing the place up real nice.

Assateague NP or SP to see the wild ponies. No hookups at the NP, but the SP has electric and water sites.

Upstate NY, Watkins Glen and the wineries around Seneca Lake.

If you're into history +1 for Colonial Williamsburg. We got the combined pass for everything.
There are several campgrounds near Lake George that get high marks. Never stayed there, we prefer the DEC no-hookup sites. Lots of hiking in the High Peaks area.
We've visited Gloucester / Boston, Cape Cod (nice, but horrible summer traffic,) Mystic Seaport, and Acadia.

Rocky Gap in Maryland - Deep Creek Lake

Upstate NY - Finger Lakes or Great Lakes

Lake Toxaway down South is good in the heat.

Asheville is fun.

Lot's to do just need to work around Traffic and Holidays,

Best of luck, let us know what and where you did/do?

After Hatteras if you haaven't done it , Colonial Williamsburg and the old Jamestown fort, take the Chesapeake Bay bridge Tunnel (Rt 13) to the eastern shore. Then check out Chincoteague area and see the horses and the NASA facility, Dover Downs Casino does not have a CG but has two parking areas one on grass and the have a dump station for free. From there its easy to cut across to Baltimore and bayside. Before getting up into Pa, if you havent tried Harpers Ferry , its worth a side trip.
Williamsburg has numerous CG's Eastern shore does as well but FHU may be limited to W/E at a lot.
