2007 Country Coach Allure 470

We are considering the purchase of a 2007 Country Coach Allure 470 - 42 ft. with 400 Cummins ISL with turbo diesel, 6 speed Allison 300MH automatic transmission, HWH CAN Automatic Air leveling system. The coach is pretty much loaded. 39,500 miles.

Interested in having feedback about Country Coach motor homes, if they are good quality or have known problems. Any particular questions we should be asking.

We have that coach, purchased in 2013 with 31,000 miles. We have the 425HP Cummins ISL which was an upgrade.

We love the coach. It is sturdily built, quiet, drives and handles like a dream. Nicely equipped. The prior owner did the wet PTO upgrade and replaced the EGR valve on the engine. As with all motorhomes, we've had to fix a few things but most were not related to anything Country Coach did or did not do. We've been to Junction City, OR twice to visit the former CC facility for service and fixes, most recently this past September. As noted, it is now owned by Winnebago.

We have put 37,000 miles on it since purchase and have done two cross country trips. It is just a really nice coach. If I had any criticism of the coach it would be even more of a joy to drive if it had one of the big block engines like the Cummins ISM. CC builds a sturdy (and heavy) coach and the ISL is fine, but a bit more power would be just icing on the cake.

Radiators were suspect in those years and can develop leaks. Ours is one of the 'suspect' radiators but we've not had issues yet. CC did use an improved design radiator in the mid 2007 model year. You can call Greg Bootes at Winnebago/CC, and with your coach serial # he can tell you if you have one of the improved radiators.

X2, our CC was our first motor home and the last. Great coach, problem free other than the checking which is not bad.

Country Coach is a well made coach. I would not hesitate to buy one given that it has been well cared for and you can get the maintenance records to prove it, and it does not have the paint checking on the side walls.

We had a 1995 Country Coach for 15 years and 125,000 miles. One of the best built production coaches out there. When Winnebago bought up Ron Lee's start up "new" Country Coach, they employed his technicians, so the Winnebago service center in Junction City will service Country Coaches. Oregon Motor Coach nearby was started by Ron's brother Bob after the bankruptcy in 2010, and has well-qualified techs as well. You can find ex-Country Coach employees around the country, and you will have no more, and probably less problems finding qualified techs to work on your coach than about any other production coach. They are about the sturdiest coach built shy of a Prevost, and engine/transmissions can be serviced practically anywhere.

I'll also say go to the iRV2.com site and join .. asking questions in the country coach sub forum.
It's Top of the line $$$$ coach built in Oregon. They went under and stopped new coaches with the rest of the failures at the end of the last decade Service was still done in Oregon by one of the old company's owners who retained parts and the old plant The name and plant was sold to Winnebago who are servicing older coaches and "planning " on bringing back the name. They are also moving high end winne pusher construction to Oregon and have started( tour / grand tour) as I understand.
Great coach but like all purchases the care it received is important. It Was high on our list when we upgraded
Aluminum radiator failures ( common with all high ends at the time ) and dry pto as already said we're the unseen things that could cost quite a few $$ to repair.

The only issues and not just limited to CC would be the radiator, dry pto if wet kit not installed and cosmetic...paint checking in the darker colors.
