Onan generator

My brother is camping in his 2000 Class A gasser with a 5500. Onan generator he says it runs fine at idle but when he turns on the A/C it shuts off. He does have a full tank of gas. Any recommendations what it might be or what he should do?

Check your air filter. That's what it was when ours did that.

Does it just die or does it sputter and die? Mine would sputter and die after a bit of missing and surging. It required a serious adjustment to the carb and new fuel filters and new spark plug.

If it just dies, then I have no suggestions.

I think he just had all new fuel lines put in.. I know he has a 30apm set up but not sure if he has a switch the goes from land to genny?

Is there not a 30a or 50a switch on that genny

My first guess is fuel starvation, he may want to replace the inline fuel filter going to the generator and see if that helps.

What other electrical loads are being used? Electric on on water heater? Microwave, coffee pot, etc. try shutting things down and try turning it back on.
