I've always wanted to do a drive through Copper Canyon in Chihuahua State of Mexico, but my wife is very nervous. Does anyone have any (preferably reassuring) story about travel there? Or, alternately, how about Baja Peninsula?
Thanks for the ideas! By crazy luck, I was able to reset from the back of the unit, red light now operates with the controls in the van. Maybe I'll get away without damage this time. I won't be pressure testing it until we get way south of this polar...

Nina could be right. I just replace the board on mine and then found that the wire running through the ceramic insulator had come loose from the sensor. It was working just the way you described and wouldn't re-ignite reliably. Fortunately, its not...
