Atwood hot water heater

My atwood hot water heater isn't burning hot enough with the flame.It lights everytime I turn it on. I see soot rising from the chimney. No issue with the propane. Any help would be appreciated

I took it apart and cleaned it. Working good. Thanks for the feedback. Big help
