RE: Towing in slick conditions

Have you done a "search" of this site yet? I seem to remember a discussion of this last year and a lot of folks from Colorado, Idaho and Utah chimed in with good advice. Good luck, Teach

RE: James Island County Park (and campground)

Do you folks have a specific route you use to avoid limbs? Would you share it? We were there this past May. We have a TT, but the park was full of big 5th wheels who made it without issue. I don't recall having to even be concerned on the way in. We take I-26 to Savannah Hwy. (Rt. 17). When Rt. 17 goes to the right, we stay on SR 171 (Folly Road Blvd) straight ahead. Just as soon as you cross the Wappo Creek bridge, you'll turn right onto Maybank Highway (SR 700). Turn left off Maybank onto Riverland Drive and the park is ahead on the right. Enter that route into your navigation system and you'll have nary a problem. Teach

RE: Does anyone make 'em anymore?

"Old school" is fun for about 20 minutes. NObody makes them because you are nearly the only customer. Hmmmm…... you may be right.:S

RE: Does anyone make 'em anymore?

convert an enclosed utility trailer. Good luck finding a fridge with no controller though. everything else should be easy to come by. I still won't have a toilet. Trying to get away from taking a s**t in the rain.

RE: Does anyone make 'em anymore?

My ‘69 VW Wetfalia pop top would meet your needs. No toilet. I had a 1970 VW bus for 20 yrs. and camped out of it until 1990. Teach

RE: Does anyone make 'em anymore?

Sounds like you want a 1960s era camper/trailer. You got it. And since I live in the inner city with no place to work inside, doing conversions is difficult and costly. Especially adding a shower and toilet. I was hoping I'd overlooked a retro manufacturer in my search, but apparently finding an old unit is my only hope. I certainly can't afford to have a Scamp, Casita, Oliver, etc. special built. Alrighty then, Craigslist it is. Teach

Does anyone make 'em anymore?

I need a one-man camper for boondocking and don't want to bother with any inverter or converter, generator or solar. I'd just as soon not bother with electricity at all. Water from a tank that is pressurized with a hand or foot pump. Heat from a radiant, propane heater. Refrigeration from a manually lit and controlled propane refrigerator. Propane mantled gas lights for illumination and a stove for cooking. All the trailers I see today are chocked full of power-needy appliances. Even the teardrops have microwaves and electric coolers. What's a boondocker to do? Having a TT custom built is out of this ol' retired school teacher's means. 'tiredTeacher

Kentucky Horse Park CG

Wife and I are planning a trip to Ky. and the KHP looked like a good spot for a 4-nights stay midweek in early October. Any yeas or nays? Teach

RE: Any Motorhome CG near Boston not requiring mortgage

Boston/Minuteman in Littleton. Close to the commuter rail $45 a night. Actually a very nice CG. I'll second that. Teach

Kentucky Bourbon Trail

Has anyone done the Trail using a CG as home base? We're thinking about going this fall. Teach

RE: Adirondack Park Advice

Stay at the North Pole Resort, Jim, Mary Ellen and family run a nice quiet, clean campground. There is a A&W, soft ice cream and town park with concerts close by. We always stay in the 100 Acres section, no pool, no children just quiet. KOA down the road is very dusty at times. We came up from Virginia and stayed there. Very nice CG.
