RE: Onan Gen--hard starting and surging

This morning it is spilling fuel from the air cleaner which mounts to the opening of the carb. I gotta get this carb torn down to check the needle and seat... I'd bet the float valve is stuck open, allowing fuel to continuously flow into the bowl.

RE: Onan Gen--hard starting and surging

When we first got our coach, the genset would not run. It would turn over, but would not run. After a little studying, I figured out that it was getting plenty of fuel from the fuel pump, the fuel line was in good shape, and it had plenty of spark.....only thing left was the carb. I figured out how to disassemble the carb..removed the bowl...removed the needle valve and found the float to be slightly stuck in the closed position. Seafoam to the rescue! I put all the removed components in a bowl of Seafoam and let them soak for an hour or so, and then used a wire brush to remove all the varnish that had accumulated from the crappy gasoline. Put it all back together, and WAL-Ahh! She fired right up, ran like a sewing machine, and has been running great for the past 5 years. I put Seafoam in every tank of gasoline in the RV mixed at 1 oz per gallon of fuel. Primary engine runs great, and so does the genset!

RE: Motorhome Crashes Into Las Vegas Casino

For those discerning music aficionados, the words of Rehab's Bartender Song comes to mind.... "Crashed that POS and then stepped away!"

RE: Dog Chwing resistant entry mat

The best thing to do is to train the dog what is acceptable to chew on and what is not. Make sure they have an acceptable toy to chew on and encourage it by playing with them with that toy. I cringe when people give them old shoes to chew on and then get mad when the dog chews up their good shoes. Short of that, you can try one of the Bitter-Apple sprays from most any pet store, but even those don't work as expected.

RE: Slide moving out

If it's a Powergear slide with rack/pinion, the free-wheeling brake on the actuation motor has likely been released. There should be a lever on the motor that is fairly easy to flip back and forth that releases the motor to free-wheel to allow for adjustment. It happened to mine, and although I keep the slide locks in place when going down the road, I noticed in the mirror that the bottom of the slide was slightly out. Took me some thinking on it, but I discovered the motor brake lever, flipped it back and all was good.

RE: Progressive EMS is growling at me/Loud hummmm

My ATS hums slightly, but the Progressive EMS that I wired in makes no noise at all. I would suspect a loose connection first. Not meaning to doubt you, but are you sure its the EMS and not the ATS?

RE: Battery Hold downs

I just use rubber bungee straps with s-hooks on the ends. Stretch 'em over the batteries and secure the ends to the tray or other solid piece. They cost a few bucks and last 2-3 seasons before they need replacing. Easy enough to install and remove when needed.

RE: 6" valve stems

If you install these from experience also install rubber wheel inserts to support them Good point! The kit I bought from that link included the rubber stabilizers!

RE: 6" valve stems

Dually Valve Stems You should be able to find the right ones for your application. Best money I've spent on mine so far!
