RE: RV sitting for two to three weeks in 10 degree weather

If your tanks are empty you only need to put in a quart or less in each tank. This is in case a small amount of water is left in the tanks, it settles against the dump valves if it is level and this will keep it from freezing and damaging the valves. You also need to fill the P traps with antifreeze, maybe a pint in each one. Enjoy the stay.

shower door handles

I have the shower with the three glass sliding doors and a handle on each end. The handles on these doors get knocked of nearly every trip. I have used every kind of epoxy that I can find. Does anyone have a permanent fix for keeping these handles on the glass? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

RE: Flojet Water Pump hammering

This is very common and usually doesn't have anything to do with air in the lines. The pumps start vibrating when it is coming up to pressure and the pex pipe starts hitting the wooden walls. There is a kit to add a soft hose between the pump and the rigid pex pipe will help some but I put pipe insulation everywhere the pipes were touching wood and I put a piece of thick rubber under the pump to reduce the noise. Very quiet now.

RE: filling fresh water tank

You can watch your gauge or it will come out of the overflow when it is full.

RE: Humming sound in 5th wheel??

If you are rigged for a generator then I would suspect the ATF(auto transfer switch). I am rigged for and do have an Onan 5500. I just tried turning both battery switches off and the humming sound was still there. Unplug from shore power and see if it stops.

RE: Hot water heater not hot enough

Make sure your outside shower is turned off at the handles if you have one. If it is cut off with the button on the shower head it allows cold water to mix with the hot. There is no temp. adjustment on the newer water heaters. If it is working right it will be plenty hot.

RE: Pinbox moves?

What is the pin weight of his rig? Mine is about 4000 lbs and it moves about half inch when I set it on the hitch and it has done it since it was new. If he can see it moving when he hits a bump I suspect he has a bigger problem and he Needs to find out for sure.

RE: Propane regulator making noise

I replace mine with the cavagna 924. I love it. My old one was mounted on the side of the bin and I could not tell when the red flag came up without removing the tank. I could not move it due to the size of the bottle and compartment. The cavagna solved that problem. Thanks for the replies.

RE: Near tragic event!!

For those of you who think a TPMS will tell you if a wheel comes of, I think you are mistaken. I am not positive but I don't think they will alarm if this happens. I have the TST 507 and I can disconnect from the RV and drive away and the monitor will keep displaying the last reading of when it was connected. This makes me believe you could lose the whole RV and not know it.

Propane regulator making noise

Recently I have noticed when I am using the furnace in the RV I am hearing a fairly loud noise comin from the propane regulator. For lack of a better description it sound like a rattle. My Rv is a 2015. Is it time to replace the regulator already or is this a normal thing. The other night I could hear it in the bedroom.

RE: 5th week hitches

Yes you can tow another type of 5th wheel with your hitch. Just make sure you have enough bed rail clearance and if you are towing a long distance it needs to be level. The only one I can think of that would be a problem is a pin used for an auto slider hitch. Then you would have to remove the pin adapter but this is not likely.

RE: Fed up with tire blow outs!!!

How fast were you driving. Most ST trailer tires are rated at 65 mph.

RE: question about trailer brakes.

Get out on the hwy and do an emergency stop. I think you will find the brakes are working just fine. All of my trailers have been heavier than yours and I could not lock up the brakes on any of them. You do not want the brakes to lock up if you are trying to stop in a hurry.

RE: TST 507 cap o rings

I found some at ACE Hdw that works just fine. They are a little larger than the OEM but they seal the cover just fine. TST quoted me a ridiculous price so I found these that do the job.

RE: Weight of air vs. Nitrogen

Be sure to check the pressure in the new tires. When I had DT mount my new tires they said they could only put 80psi in the tires because of their euip. Good thing I asked.

RE: Ram Factory Brake Controller

If your RV is heavy ie 14K plus you will not be able to lock the tires unless you are on gravel. I have disk brakes on mine and cannot slide the tires but in an emergency stop I have plenty of brake. I have had two 5ers 14K plus with different brake controllers and could not slide the tires on either one. Don't let that be your only determining factor on your brakes working properly. Good luck.

RE: AC Not Working / Unusual Symptoms

Gas can be replaced but you have to install a valve in the line. These are considered throw away units but if you have the tools an know how you can add freon. The question is how long will it last. It sounds like something was seized in the unit such as the fan or the compressor that was tripping the breakers. Good luck.

RE: tire psi

The sticker on your door reflects the inflation for max. GWR of your truck. That is the info I use to inflate my tires. There is no use going higher unless you are overloading the truck. But what if the tires is not factory? Did some put lighter on it at some point- maybe heavier ply tires. If we are not talking factory equipment , all bets are off.
