RE: Chevy Shake

Not sure if it is the same issue but I had a 2009 GMC dmax dually and it had a vibration when starting off. There was a GM service bulletin on this issue that was caused by the driveshaft angle. I took mine to the dealer and they fixed it no problems afterward traded it in in 2014.

RE: Slide outs in cold weather

If you use your furnace and you have floor ducts you will need to leave the slides out if the slides cover the vents.

RE: Bathroom heater vent not blowing

I would suspect it has come loose or is kinked in the basement where it comes off of the distribution box. The bathroom is usually on a individual duct and if yours was built like mine was it probably needs some attention with some duct tape to close up all of the leaks. Good luck

RE: Superglide Hitch / Capture Plate Question

Well you have had two people say no so I would suggest you listen to them but the capture plate from your son's rig should fit if it is not bolted down. Good luck I would not want my advice to cause a problem. You could chain the slider to the front of the mount where it would not be able to move. That would also be a option.

RE: Superglide Hitch / Capture Plate Question

Unless they have changed the design in the last 10 years I don't think it would be a problem. Without a capture plate it will not slide back so you would have to be very careful if backing at a sharp angle. On the newer models the plate is very easy to remove and replace so if one is handy just use it, if not just be careful backing.

RE: Cannot open grey or black tank

If the valves are cable operated I don't know of any way without exposing the valves. If they are just a straight rod, if you can get a pair of channel locks around the rod and turn it back and forth as someone pulls on the handle it might open. Depends if it is stuck at the valve or there is some corrosion on the rod and handle. Good luck, wish we could help more.

RE: splicing aluminum to copper elec wire

Are you sure it's aluminum? That would be highly unusual. It's probably tin plated copper. Thanks everyone for your input. I am kind of anal when it come to stuff like this. I looked at the wire closely and it sure looks like aluminum but on the wire I found AWM style 3321 which is tin plated copper so I don't have the problem I thought I had. The oven is at my home and it is a built in oven. There is a very heavy three conductor wire sticking out of the wall and that is how the old oven has been hooked up for 35 years so I guess going back the same way will be OK now that I know it is not aluminum. Thanks everyone for taking the time to respond. There is a wealth of knowledge available on the site and you are willing to help. This is why I asked the question here. The oven came wit an armored pigtail with 12 ga wire and it was not intended to be changed. Thanks again

splicing aluminum to copper elec wire

I just bought a new oven and it came with aluminum wire and I have to splice it to copper. Do I need to do something different for this connection? I know aluminum and copper doesn't play well together in some instances. Thanks in advance for the you help.

RE: Light Problem

Not trying to be a wise guy but did you check the bulbs. When I got my RV both bulbs were burned out.

RE: Changing refrigerator cooling unit...New or Refurbished??

You need to check into the Amish built cooling units. The quality of these units are supposed to be superior to any OEM unit. If you continue on the route you are going I would say to use the new unit rather than the rebuilt one since your rig is only 5 years old, It will probably be in service many more years, and I just don't trust most rebuilt products.

RE: RV sitting for two to three weeks in 10 degree weather

If your tanks are empty you only need to put in a quart or less in each tank. This is in case a small amount of water is left in the tanks, it settles against the dump valves if it is level and this will keep it from freezing and damaging the valves. You also need to fill the P traps with antifreeze, maybe a pint in each one. Enjoy the stay.

shower door handles

I have the shower with the three glass sliding doors and a handle on each end. The handles on these doors get knocked of nearly every trip. I have used every kind of epoxy that I can find. Does anyone have a permanent fix for keeping these handles on the glass? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

RE: Flojet Water Pump hammering

This is very common and usually doesn't have anything to do with air in the lines. The pumps start vibrating when it is coming up to pressure and the pex pipe starts hitting the wooden walls. There is a kit to add a soft hose between the pump and the rigid pex pipe will help some but I put pipe insulation everywhere the pipes were touching wood and I put a piece of thick rubber under the pump to reduce the noise. Very quiet now.

RE: filling fresh water tank

You can watch your gauge or it will come out of the overflow when it is full.

RE: Humming sound in 5th wheel??

If you are rigged for a generator then I would suspect the ATF(auto transfer switch). I am rigged for and do have an Onan 5500. I just tried turning both battery switches off and the humming sound was still there. Unplug from shore power and see if it stops.

RE: Hot water heater not hot enough

Make sure your outside shower is turned off at the handles if you have one. If it is cut off with the button on the shower head it allows cold water to mix with the hot. There is no temp. adjustment on the newer water heaters. If it is working right it will be plenty hot.

RE: Pinbox moves?

What is the pin weight of his rig? Mine is about 4000 lbs and it moves about half inch when I set it on the hitch and it has done it since it was new. If he can see it moving when he hits a bump I suspect he has a bigger problem and he Needs to find out for sure.

RE: Propane regulator making noise

I replace mine with the cavagna 924. I love it. My old one was mounted on the side of the bin and I could not tell when the red flag came up without removing the tank. I could not move it due to the size of the bottle and compartment. The cavagna solved that problem. Thanks for the replies.

RE: Near tragic event!!

For those of you who think a TPMS will tell you if a wheel comes of, I think you are mistaken. I am not positive but I don't think they will alarm if this happens. I have the TST 507 and I can disconnect from the RV and drive away and the monitor will keep displaying the last reading of when it was connected. This makes me believe you could lose the whole RV and not know it.
