RE: Air Conditioner

Our newer Atwood is so much quieter than the Dometic it replaced which wasnt that old either. I believe Atwood designed their units with airflow and noise in mind.

RE: Dometic Junk

When we were replacing the Dometic AC on our new trailer in 2017 I researched high and low for the best and bought a Atwood AirCommand. Took a few weeks for delivery as it was from Australia but compared to the Dometic, well it doesn't compare to a Dometic they aren't even close to the same. Unfortunately Dometic bought AtWood a few years ago and I'm sure have had their engineers build in some planned obsolescence.

RE: Rocket exhaust from diesel regen

The piece of heavy equipment I drive at work says during regen to assure that the exhaust is not pointed at anything flammable. Trees, buildings, fences, cars, etc. This makes me think they expect some serious heat to come out the pipe. The exhaust system is quite long also running down the chassis and up out the rear framework.

RE: F150 5.0 V8 or V6 Twin Turbo

I'd go with the EcoBoost for a daily driver and keep it in the Eco and out of the Boost as much as possible.

RE: Will Air bags make a big difference?

Air bags and E rated truck tires might solve your issue.

RE: oil filter?

I only use Baldwin filters so for your application it would be a Baldwin B329.

RE: Priming the water pump

When filling from dry tanks I usually open the pressure release on the water heater. As the tanks fill eventually the water heater fills and water will spit out. Then I close the pressure release and continue filling the tanks. Once they are full I pull the kitchen drawers out and make sure the water filters have water in them. If not I remove them and fill them up, sometimes I change the filter cartridge also. Tighten up the water filters and then open the bathroom faucets and kitchen faucets and turn the pump on. Generally it primes somewhat quickly. Do remember a few times I was wondering if it ever was going to though.

RE: What broke my window?

Our friends had a side window explode on their brand new Thor toy hauler. Thankfully they hired a lawyer as there was a magnitude of other problems but a window did blow out for no reason.

RE: Chaning Differental oil ???

As a person who just dropped $2,440 on a rear end rebuild I'd do it now. My oil was last changed by myself around 5 years ago and now wish I'd done it more regularly. Oil is cheap comparably.

RE: New to diesel fuel

Been driving diesel equipment for 24 years. We have many diesel storage tanks in storage bins that sit between jobs or phases sometimes for months. The tanks are not what I would call sealed or air tight and the fuel is fine. I would only use additives if you are parking where it can freeze. I would also keep the DEF tank full when sitting. Some of our issues with DEF have been from crystals forming which I believe are from the tank drying over time because it is not full.

RE: Lubricant for tow bar arms

I just use wheel bearing and chassis grease as I have lots of it for work.

RE: Alternative to bumper sewer hose carrier

I keep our sewer hoses in a solid black tote and all our fresh water supplies in a clear tote. Electrical items in a grey tote.

RE: Firearms in RVs in California

on the road in California your firearm must be unloaded and in a locked container... unless you have a California CCW permit. In your campsite, you may treat your firearm as if in your own home. To expand just a bit the magazine may be loaded but it may not be in the pistol. Both may be in the same locked container.

RE: Cummins vs Hummer Towing 6,000 lbs

Towing at 70mph is what killed the milage for both. Easily 18% more fuel/energy needed than towing at 55-60.

RE: Can 'O Worms: how long can I expect my 5er to last?

Our toy hauler is 17 years old but it's built like a tank thankfully. I've dragged it all over southern California desert down roads most of you would never consider. Our good friend has already been though two new ones. They literally fell apart.

RE: Why did my water pump stop pumping?

Do you have a water filter? Possible under the sink? I just changed mine this evening while filling the fresh tank up and had a heck of a time getting all the air bled even though I prefilled the filter and bled the water heater.
