RE: Keeping fridge cool in high 90s temps

Just get a bag o ice. I don't even turn the fridge on before we go camping for the weekend. We freeze water bottles They not only cool the fridge quickly but I also don't have to turn the fridge past #4. I also have one of those mini fans by the coils I have a 4 door and if it's a short weekend I have a sheet of styrofoam cutout to block off the lower part of the fridge. Biggest thing I've found is plan ahead and try not to open the door too much.

RE: Onan 5500 Backfires and Dies under a load

That sure seems like a lot. I just measured mine. 13' from outlet on gas tank to inlet on gen on a 34' rv. Maybe they put the tanks under the toy hauler garage to be used to fill up the toys too?

RE: Onan 5500 Backfires and Dies under a load

Great thought, but instead of it pulling 35 feet from the tank its now pulling it less than 2 feet. Problem also happened with fresh gas from the tank. No, electric fuel pumps are placed inside tanks or below the tank especially in high performance applications Your pump would do better being level pulling 35' than trying to pull 2' from below. I doubt they would put a gas tank 35' away Why are you using a separate tank?

RE: Onan 5500 Backfires and Dies under a load

Yay! Also, electric fuel pumps aren't good for drawing or sucking fuel. Having the tank below the pump isn't good

RE: Onan 5500 Backfires and Dies under a load

For the past year I have been searching for answers and replacing parts with no improvement. What year is this toyhauler? Did it run right the previous year? Have you checked that it has proper gas flow from the tank? Have you tried loosening gas cap while running?

RE: Onan 5500 Backfires and Dies under a load

Look underneath the muffler Probably a square 1/4" pipe plug Remove it and run the gen Could be a lean condition if the plug porcelain was white but you just changed plugs. The tip was black so maybe it's more ignition related, wire, coil, circuit board etc. Check your altitude adjustment The fact you replaced carb and pump and filters points more to ignition or lack of.

Just throwing stuff out there Have you pulled the plug on the bottom of the muffler to clean the spark arrestor?

RE: Onan 5500 Backfires and Dies under a load

seafoam doesn't fix problems Seafoam contains kerosene, which is paraffin, which we all know as wax Anything more than the recommended dose and it will cause more problems. I doubt it's tight valve lash IF it ran fine for the first 100 hours You replaced both spark plugs and then you replaced another because it wasn't firing? Was the porcelain black? If so you may have a running rich issue. Can you see that the choke plate is fully open when hot? Could be a spark plug wire Need more info

RE: Flashlight

I got these a few months ago and they work great They have the larger 18650 rechargeable batteries and last a long time They also have the strobe which I don't care for The zoom is nice. Projects a long narrow beam or you can use it for a wider view Feel heavy duty Kind of weird with the square led bulb Best money i ever spent from all the flashlights I've tried 2 T6 LED flashlights

RE: Selling a Class A Motorhome

Craigslist is ok if you watch for the scammers. Here are the things to watch for 1. Anyone on an offshore oil rig 2. Wants to buy "the unit" for full price sight unseen 3. for their father 4. wants to deal only through PayPal 5. is sending an agent to pick it up I have to say it was a bit odd but i got a text from a buyer for my motorcycle at 3 am I played the game anyway He bought it full price unseen He sent me money through paypal He sent someone out with a truck to pick it up Never spoke to him and he never rode the bike

RE: trailer ball ratings

Ya I figured just go to the highest rating Hopefully others will take a look and make sure they have the correct rating I guess my question was if my trailer is 5700# is a 7500# ball ok? A 6000# should be ok but there's no room for error

trailer ball ratings

Never really thought much of it. Trailer ball rated for more than what you're towing. Looked at the 2" boat trailer ball. 6000# Boat and trailer is about 5500# so I went up to 7500# ball My enclosed trailer weighs 2600# and when I put the rzr in with all the stuff it's about 5700#. It has a 2 5/16" ball with a 1" shank rated at 7500#. Should i go up to a 10,000# ball just to be safe? Am I worrying too much? Do you just buy the highest rating no matter what? Anyone break a ball?
