RE: Imagine tt by Grand Design

If you are going to be in the south, I highly recommend having 2 AC units. We spent this summer in Savannah and started with one AC unit. By memorial day we had the second unit installed. Thankfully, we had the 50amp service and 2nd AC prep from the factory. It all depends on where you'll be, but I can tell you for sure you'll want 2 if you'll be anywhere in the heat!

RE: Florida to Sevierville, easiest route

I go 95 to 26 to 40 from Florida or Georgia. I40 through the mountains is not that bad and 40 brings you right around to the back side of Sevierville. We live near Sevierville and just came up from Savannah back in July. Zero problems.

RE: Opinions on this travel trailer

I like it. I see a lot of toy haulers using the rear gate as a patio. In the campgrounds we frequent (state parks), we would have no problem deploying the patio. My little pooch would LOVE being outside on the patio! And, the natural light in the living area is awesome. I dig it.

RE: Hard for us to get past Grand Design

We had a similar list when looking for a new TT, except a rear bedroom was on top. We camp at lakeside and creek side sites frequently and love having the views and especially the sounds of the water in the bedroom. A front bedroom puts you sleeping closer to the road in a back in site. I never understood wanting to sleep up front. Good luck with your purchase.

RE: Towing with 1995 Yukon

Hey 1ed, I have extensive experience with that situation. I had a 1999 Tahoe with the 5.7 and we pulled a trailer weighing 5000+ pounds. We pulled that thing from the coast to the smokies here in NC and that truck was a BEAST! Never let me down! Never! I finally sold that beast with 275K on the odometer and it had zero issues. You don't mention a hitch, so I recommend a good weight distributing hitch. I used an Equalizer and was happy with it. I also recommend adding s set of Timbrens to the rear end. These SUV's are soft in the rear and the Timbrens worked perfectly for me in this application. Good luck in your travels and let me know if I can help.

RE: Rockwood 2608WS

Well we ended up buying a 2019 2608BSD. So far we love it. I love the sturdy design of the pull down steps and we got the theater seating. However we do have an issue with the bedroom slide. Something broke and it doesn't come in straight unless I nudge the bed with my knee while my wife pushes the like switch. Seems to be common to have some issues with new units anymore. Congrats on the 2608! I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the slide issue? Can you elaborate on what broke?

RE: Hot brakes and Tall trailers

The setup looks good. I would try backing off of the brake controller until you find the sweet spot.

RE: Streaming to TV from Cell Phone

Yes. I "cast" from my phone, so no wires. I use YouTubeTV (love it) and I get my local channels when I am traveling. I have a smart TV that has chromecast built in, but you can buy the chromecast adapter for $35 or so. Works like a charm. I have a Sprint cell account with 50gb of hotspot date per phone. Have been from the mountains to the coast and watched TV everywhere. Good luck This may be the best way to go yet. Must your phone screen stay on while casting to the tv also? You can use your phone for other things while casting.

RE: 2015 Rockwood Windjammer 3025W - 30 or 50 amp service?

Mine came with a single AC unit but the prep and pre-wire for the second AC. So, it's 50amp. 3 ways it could come. 30 amp with single AC, 50 amp single AC (2nd AC prep), and 50 amp with dual AC units. Yours MAY have the OPTION for the 2nd AC, but if it doesn't have it, or is not prepped for it, it could be 30amp.

RE: Jeep GC and TT Towing Assistance

BTW, the tow rating of the 2011 GC is 5000lb. I mentioned that in post #3 on PAGE 1 of this thread. No one seemed to notice.
